It feels unique and fun, without losing any of that warmth (or comfort) that I refuse to compromise on!
I'm wearing my red leopard-print skirt again (see it styled in a different way HERE) because I'm struggling to see past it these days!
I picked it up when I was in a supermarket (shopping for mushroom ketchup, of all things) and I've worn it LOADS since.
It seems to go with everything (for me anyway) and today I'm wearing it with a teal polo-neck.
It's such a warm and comfortable outfit.
The contrast between the teal, tobacco and red is really pleasing to me.
A lovely colour combination, and one of my favourites.
I'm also wearing a big trend here in the UK... a teddy coat.
Although when I say "A big trend" this means they are all over the shops BUT I have honestly never seen anyone in real life (in my demographic) with a coat like this.
I've seen a couple of late teens/early 20s girls but no one anywhere near my age.
The majority of people over the age of 30 seem to be sporting a black longline puffa... the same as my dog-walking coat!
I've no idea why everyone loves black so much.
Winter is dark and miserable enough.
I always get excited when I spot someone wearing colour.
It goes well with jeans as well as dresses and skirts.
What's not to love?
{It's not so good in the rain but I can't spend my life in a boring waterproof can I?}
I've toned the look down a little by teaming the skirt with simple black tights and my trusty DMs.
Do you wear a lot of black in winter?
Why do you love it so much?
Do you prefer a blast of colour on a dark day?
What is your go-to shade?
I'd love to hear your thoughts!

ReplyDeleteYay!! I'm glad to hear it Laurie.
DeleteI'm curious as to how many have you seen on "the street" so to speak?
Maybe more people are sporting colour and texture down south?

I love your colour combinations. I havent seen anyone wear a teddy...yet, but I'll look now xx
ReplyDeleteI'd love it if you got back to me to share how many you spotted... and on who!

Colour all the way for me! And I have a teddy coat the same colour but longline, from Warehouse a couple of years ago. I wear it so much all winter, I feel like it should be charging me rent! X
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha... I love that Rozanne!
DeleteI hope this style stays put for a few years because I love the slightly retro feel of these shaggy coats.

The long black puffa - all I see here too on the Black Sea. At least mine is purple :) I would love a Teddy, it is gorgeous, just like your skirt. What a fun mid-winter outfit. Give me colour in winter (and summer) too!! Lise
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Lise!
DeleteI have a long black puffa... it's very practical for late night dog walks down the dark roads.
I wear mine with a particularly fetching hi-viz vest!!! Hahahahahaha
"I've no idea why everyone loves black so much. Winter is dark and miserable enough. I always get excited when I spot someone wearing colour" - did you jump inside my brain and copy my thoughts, Samantha...?!! 😜
ReplyDeleteI adore teddy coats, and oh boy you've pulled out all the stops with regards to colour and texture here. I can see why you love the leopard skirt so much!!

I actually chased a woman down the street in Glasgow yesterday to ask her where her amazing skirt was from... it was a cracker!
DeleteWhen she turned around I was so happy to see she was an older woman (late 50's maybe) because she was ageless.
I think I made her day!!
Thank you for popping over to visit.

Gosh, I don't even know where to start. Ok. First, I love the second photo of you so much! Next, your colour clashing is so fabulous, the teal, tobacco, and tomato is killing me. That teddy coat is divine, your lipstick is ooo la la, and the Docs give the whole thing a totally Sam edge. You always nail creative chic like nobody else. xxx
ReplyDeleteBlimey Lisa... you are very kind!
DeleteI never 'plan' what's getting worn it just falls together.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but I'm okay with both.
I'm so glad you like this outfit.
I loved wearing it!

The previous comment by "the Seauinist" regarding the merits of tomato and tobacco pretty much nails it. The teal is an awfully nice surprise too! You make winter look so joyful!! Love, Jude
ReplyDeleteTeal is a great friend to tomato and tobacco... I love them together.
DeleteThank you so much Jude!

I love black and pleated skirts! Have a great weekend! Hope to see you on my Fancy Friday linkup party!
ReplyDeleteYou wear black so well Nancy... always with a little twist!

Always enjoy your more colourful outfits Sam, they suit you and are so nicely balanced. People used to choose black if their one and only coat had to cover all occasions, or because a cheaper coat looked nicer in black, but this has largely changed so why everywhere is still a sea of rather depressing black... I love being complimented for wearing colours in Winter. Wish a few more people would take the plunge, and brighten up these short dark days! Sue
ReplyDeleteI stopped someone the other day to compliment her on her BRIGHT PINK coat... it was like a breath of fresh air amongst the black.
DeleteThank you for this fab comment Sue!

what an amazing color combo! and your teddy coat looks so cozy and cute! and the red leopard skirt is so vibrant and cool! and your boots are just fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteI like black color and have a black puffa coat myself, but I always try to wear it with interesting colors and/or textures. Black can enhance colors too!
besos
I've got a black longline puffa too but I always feel depressed wearing it because it's SO long it covers any colour underneath. :o(
DeleteYou're right about black enhancing other colours and it's such a shame that some women just wear all-black without taking advantage of it's enhancing properties!
