This outfit is not for the fainthearted!
It's bright and bold.
Psychedelic 1990s meets the '70s, meets a potential migraine.
And I LOVE it!
When I wore this outfit to work I received plenty of comments.
Some were genuine compliments.
"OMG... I love your dress!"Some were knee-jerk shock reactions.
"Wow! Thats bright!!"Some were simply cheeky.
"Are you not getting enough attention or something?"
None of which affected how I felt about wearing this outfit.
As I always say...
It doesn't matter a jot what other people think of you (or your clothing choices) it's how YOU feel about YOU that counts.
In fact, it's ALL that counts.
Do you agree?
Back to this dress...
I've had my eye on it for months but knew it would end up in the sale at some rock-bottom price.
It's a very niche item.
Right up my alley but I don't think the alley is too crowded!
So I've waited and here it is.
Mine for 70% off.
Hello my lovely!
I'm also looking forward to wearing this dress in the warmer months as it has a lovely open back.
A little bit sexy (it's still allowed over 40 you know!) but demure enough not to look too flashy.
Today, I'm wearing it with a bright orange poloneck... plus a few extra hidden layers... and why not?
I felt like a beacon of light on a winter's day.
Wearing bright colours, either clothing or makeup, really does improve your mood and sense of wellbeing.
Get your colour on!
BOOTS: Duo (a few years old)... similar.
DRESS: Topshop... cheap as chips, but only the petite version is online now!
TOP: Kettlewell colours.
BAG: Charity shopped.
This is such a joyful and bold colour scheme, and you look particularly joyful in the 2nd last photo :) Lise
ReplyDeleteI think it was the sunshine Lise!
DeleteEven though I was chilly after taking off my coat I still felt good with the sun on my back :o)

Put me in the OMG I Love Your Dress camp! It looks fantastic on you and the colour combination is electrifying in the best way. xx
ReplyDeleteHahahaha... thank you Lisa!!
DeleteI could see you in this dress, maybe without the poloneck and with a sophisticated coat over the top?!

Red and pink is my favourite colour combination!
ReplyDeleteYay!!!
DeleteI'm SO glad you agree.
It's a belting combination, isn't it?

Delightful. While the colors are lovely bright shades, the dress and knit underneath are very sleek and traditional, as are the boots. Perfect combination. You make me think of sugarplums and flowers and tropical birds.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Kathleen.
DeleteSugarplums, flowers and tropical birds?..... I'll gladly take that!

Oh, I LOVE this colour combo, Samantha, and you are rockin' it! I totally agree: as long as we feel good, it doesn't matter what we're wearing. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteYou too Sheila!
DeleteFeeling good is all that counts.
Worrying about the opinions of others is pointless.
It doesn't matter what we wore there would ALWAYS be someone who didn't like it or thought it looked odd/boring/unflattering.
Clothes are for enjoying!

This is a color combination that warms the cockles of my heart, brightens my spirits and can evoke a smile on a grumpy winter face. I love you more for wearing this dress in mid January. Some of your coworkers don't realize what a gift you are!! :-)
ReplyDeleteAwwwww... Judy, you are so kind.
DeleteThank you!
I think I may have given a couple of people a headache though!!! :oP
