Oh dear... not one bit of me is hanging the right way today!
The winter light is awful.
Dull, dingy and grey.
My skin is dehydrated and looking haggard.
And worst of all?
My hair is a MESS.
I'm waiting for my hair appointment (which is in danger of being cancelled due to the snow... please, no!) and I feel like I'm wearing a horrible little hat.
So, today I'm styling a look to distract the eye.
A look that will draw the attention away from my parched skin and birds-nest hair.
The answer is (as always) colour!
When you feel like a mess, the only course of action is to pile on the colour and keep smiling!
An oversized fluff-fest of as jumper and bright pink trousers.
(Pink and purple go wonderfully together, don't they?)
Adding layers was a must but this white roll neck also adds light to my face.
My trusty DM's and some cheeky cherry earrings finished things off nicely.
What BOLD colour combinations do you love?
TROUSERS: Topshop (old)
JUMPER: F&F
ROLLNECK: Old
JUMPERS: Dr Marten's
BAG: eBay
EARRINGS: ASOS (old)

Super bright colour combo, and I love those cherry earrings! I'm a bit obsessed with cherries. I'm trying to grow my hair so it's about to enter that "can't do anything with it" phase, so any tips for focusing the attention away from the barnet are appreciated!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh Gail!
DeleteI remember that stage well from my last grow out.
Nothing else for it but to grit your teeth.
Good luck!

Oh dear, my post for Wednesday is me with SOAKING WET HAIR, not cuz it was raining but because I was so SWEATING! In the middle of December! But I was out in town with a photographer, no time to fix hair or rethink the outfit, nothing to distract the reader from my drowned cat look. It's pretty bad. You, in comparison, look darling, as always. Is this your yard that you shoot in usually? The little bits we see look so charming. I'd love a photo tour sometime.

Totally love this color combo, purple and hotpink looks fabulous! And the accessorizing is brilliant! I agree on bold colors, lipstick and cute earrings to keep a positive mood (and style!) when things are not working as expected (particularly those bad hair days!)
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable!

Thank you Monica... I had a feeling you'd approve of this colour combo! :oP

I love these bright colours together...it's what we need when the weather is grey and miserable. I usually just stick a hat on when my hair is a mess...which is most of the time ;-)

I love a hat too Emma... unfortunately it has to come off at work! :o)

Your brilliant personality is what I see Sam. The colors are just a bit of a lovely distraction. Your heart and soul will always dull the impact of temporarily unhappy hair and skin. I DO get it, but we're so much harder on ourselves than any observers (friend or foe) :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you're wearing black combat boots. I bought some recently!
I'm sure you'll love your boots Judy!
DeleteThey seem to go with anything and everything.
Enjoy them.

I love all your color combos - life is to short to be dark and dreary. As for my go to color combo when things aren't quite right: purple and orange. Without fail, those colors brighten my day.
ReplyDeleteOh yes Maria!
DeletePurple and orange are fabulous together.
A ferocious combination!

Yes, your personality does so shine through. And, I am going to "borrow" your tip about bright colours when one's hair is a mess. What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteDistraction is key! :oP
DeleteThank you so much for your kindness.

Love these colors together Sam and the cute combat boots! I know what you mean about grey days!
ReplyDeleteHappy New YEar!
