Conservative (but Not Boring!) Work Outfit Idea
Work outfits can be dull as dishwater can't they?
Today I'm styling a (fairly) conservative work outfit that met the 'Smart(ish) and professional' criteria I needed but didn't put me in a style coma!
Despite being a lover of 'Fun Fashion', tongue in cheek accessories and plenty of colour, some occasions call for a more sombre look.
Fortunately, grown-up style does not need to be boring.
My outfit today is neat, smart and practical but it's still interesting enough to give me confidence.
I'm styling a pair of wool man-style trousers and a v-neck jumper.
It's a simple combination but can so easily go down the boring route.
It's easy to keep things feeling like 'you' by adding a couple of personal touches.
For me, it was my lace boots and a cheeky necklace that a friend kindly gave me.
I really love these trousers too... they're a dark blue with a pinstripe and a silk tuxedo-style side stripe.
SO comfortable and the best quality.
(Unfortunately, ME&EM did not send these to me or sponsored this post... maybe one day?!)
How would YOU make a classic Trousers & Jumper outfit unique to your style?
I'd love to hear about the touches that make you feel great!
WOOL TROUSERS: ME&EM (past season) try THESE
CASHMERE JUMPER: Charity shopped... try this one
BAG: Primark
NECKLACE: a gift
BOOTS: Clarks (older than time itself!)

you look really elegant and cool! Those pants are really fabulous, best shape ever!. I love those little details that make a difference, like the side stripe. And your accessories!. Your booties totally rock!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that I don't have to wear any conservative work outfit anymore. Everytime I had to wear something 'formal' I just wore a jacket and trousers! I'm not brilliant at this stuff!
Thank you so much!
DeleteI love these trousers... SO comfy :o)

ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy!

Such a classy pair of trousers! I think the tuxedo styling really makes this look sexy and elegant and not at all somber. Isn't it lovely the way pearls feminize a look? This necklace is very special and even nicer that it came from a friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy!
DeleteI love this necklace... it's obviously a fake but is weighty and a little bit tongue in cheek. XXX
This is a fabulous outfit, and such a great take on this businessy combination. My office is full of women (and men!) wearing the same ol' black pants/shirt/sweater combo, but with no imagine or details!
ReplyDeleteI rarely dive into the full-on business look myself - I'm lucky that my work is flexible enough to allow me to dress the way I do.
Drooling over those trousers. LOVE.
Thank you Sheila.
DeleteWorkwear can be SO boring can't it?
I don't own a pair of black work trousers... dull dull dull. :oD

Oooh! Those trousers are so sharp! And I love how you've tied the sash over to the side like that.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very classy outfit. For sure.
I love stopping in to see what you've been up to Samantha!

Thank you so much Annie... and thank you for visiting! XXX
DeleteI'm sorry Sam, but you look far too glamorous to be a blogger here. You look like you belong in Hollywood, on your way to lunch with your agent for your next film project. Just oozing regal bougie goodness, lady.
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha... thank you Lisa.
DeleteYou are so funny, and generous!

I understand why you love these blue trousers. If they would come in my size, I would buy them immediately. I have never seen you like this. I like it as much as I like your other outfits.

Wow, those trousers are so great on you Sam! I am playing catch up on blogs lately.. you have a few bad health days and then its time to catch up! I love the trouser style and those pearls add the feminine touch too! Lovely!
