Transitioning into Autumn | Fall Vintage Fashion

Vintage green blouse, oxblood blazer, orson jeans and pink shoes | Fake Fabulous

If you're a lover of autumn, and everything that comes along with it (crisp mornings, stunning colours, leaves ripe for kicking...) then you're probably looking forward to the change in the weather that comes at this time of year.

Vintage green blouse, oxblood blazer, topshop orson jeans and pink pumps.

It's been feeling very 'autumnal' for a wee while now, here in Scotland, but it's only just this week that I've hung up my sandals and moved my AW shoes into prime position.

{The bi-annual shoe shuffle is one of my favourite events!}

Today I'm feeling in an autumnal mood (and rough as a badgers bum, as it happens... I'm recovering from a nasty cold) so the cosy cuddle of heavier fabrics and the warm glow of those richer fall shades, is just what the doctor ordered!

I'm styling a vintage blouse with 'mom' jeans and what could be simpler?
Good quality vintage pieces do all of the work for you.
Some of my favourite wardrobe items are vintage, and they are the easiest items to make into an outfit.

This blouse has so much personality I just need a simple blazer and a bag and I'm good to go.
Thank goodness, because my brain is a ball of spider's webs.
Oh, and I must mention these pink pumps (which I forgot to photograph up close... idiot!).

These lovely pink shoes are also vintage and are THE most comfortable pair I own.
Obviously not as comfortable as trainers or slippers, but for the style of them, they are easily an all-day shoe.
The quality is just superb!

{I've popped on a pair of sunglasses for your own protection...my eye bags have reached new heights, or should that be plunged to new depths?!}

What's happening with your wardrobe at the moment?
Are you mid-transition?
Do you do a reshuffle of clothes and shoes, like me?
Please let me know... I'd love to hear about it!

  2. Rough as a badger's bum :-D I love your turn of phrase! Can't wait to use that one myself (though hopefully I won't get a cold for a while - I like to save that for blizzard weather when I can relish being in bed)

  3. Really love that colour combination, stunning! With you on the vintage, it really makes an outfit. I do a shoe & wardrobe shuffle and am looking forward to getting the boots out again, probably late September. This year, I am most excited at getting into my bootcut and other full-leg jeans again, I've missed them during the heatwave. Hope you feel much better very soon x

  4. Statement blouses like that don't need much else - the 80s really knew how to do 'em! Love this combo of colours - it's fall, but not quite there yet! Yes, I am jonesing for my boots already!

    1. That is true Sheila!
      Unfortunately, in the 80's there would have been 3 more 'statement' colours and patterns in the outfit (and not in a good way)... and BAD hair!!
      Hahahahahaa.... I remember my mum's BAD poodle perms (home done too!)
      Fried hair and plenty of frizz :oP

  7. I always so enjoy your color mixing!

    It's WAY too soon here (NY) to start thinking about transitioning the wardrobe to fall...we've got another month, probably, of heat and humidity and air conditioning. But I *do* look forward to switching the closet over EVENTUALLY, and to some favorite "tucked away" items that I haven't seen for awhile.

  8. Vintage is always in fashion.

    Right now we are still in a heat wave so no transitioning yet. I'm fine with that. The longer we can hold off winter the happier I am.

    1. Fair enough Suzanne!
      I suppose your vintage dresses look SO much better flying solo than under a heavy winter coat?!

  9. I'm swooning a bit over that lovely confetti print blouse.:-P. This look has that nice transitional feel. We never really want to head into cold weather do we? Yet fall always provides those rich hues that beckon us to embrace cozy, warm colors! You are always inspiring Samantha, but these are YOUR colors!!!

  10. Love very much your blouse Sam! The colors are vibrant and I love the neckline and how it buttons..Great mix of colors with your blouse! i have my Fall clothes in another bedroom ( I dont have a big closet) so I end up moving the whole closet, exchanging with my current spring/summer clothes. It is quite a task, and exhausting!
    Have a great day and I hope you feel better
