Denim Dress and Comfortable Sandals | Summer Outfit

Denim Halter Dress & Calla Sandals | Summer outfit | Fake Fabulous

Summer has hit Scotland hard for the first time in, well... forever!
Skin is on show everywhere.
Summer clothes (that never normally get an airing) are being dusted down and we're soaking up the heat as often as possible.

I've been blogging for 3 years and this is the first year I've been able to sit outside and work.
It feels great.
My legs are even off-white!

Can you OD on Vitamin D? 😜

When I first started blogging (back in June 2015) I had no idea what was ahead of me.
I remember being thrilled to bits with my first collaborative offer... which just so happened to come from a hosiery company that I used anyway.
So this first offer was a definite (excited) YES!

However, I quickly came to realise that NOT every opportunity to collaborate was worth taking.

Yes of course "free" stuff is nice.

{Although, anything that involves your time and effort is not free... think of your hourly rate and multiply that by the hours you put into preparing and writing a blog post... suddenly that pair of tights is VERY expensive!}

BUT at the end of the day, your integrity is what really matters.

If a collaboration feels wrong in any way I just say "No thank you"... even if it looks like a great deal.

I only ever say "Yes!" to items I would happily buy anyway.

Take these shoes from Calla.
When they got in touch with me to ask if I would be interested in their summer collection I said "Yes" straight away!

I knew the quality would be spot on (I have been caught out by other brands in the past and had to send things back) and as soon as I saw this style I knew it would be perfect for my summer wardrobe.

Practical and not too 'pretty' looking... if that makes any sense at all!

They do have a great selection of more classic styles as well as beautiful event shoes if that's more your thing.

(See the last pair of shoes they sent me HERE... it was bitterly old that day.)

Calla shoes are aimed at women with bunions, and they're amazing at disguising them.
However, they are not just for bunion sufferers.
They're perfect for anyone with wide feet, or anyone who needs more space for their toes.

I have a small bunionette on my right pinkie toe and there is no squeezing at all from these shoes.
Toe heaven!

With these sandals at my starting point, this outfit was easy to throw together.
I often start from the feet and work my way up.
Outfits make more sense to me that way.

Sandals.
Denim dress.
Done.

Comfortable and casual.
BUT just pretty enough to wear for summer-evening drinks!

    1. Thank you Nancy. I love a halter.... But hate the bra situation!! Strapless is annoying even with this one which is the most comfortable I've ever had. X

  3. What a lovely dress - no back view? How nice to be getting some real summer weather! The one time I was in Scotland (June 1996) I got sunburnt on my nose! Happy weekend, Samantha!

    1. I do have a back view Sheila.... I will add it later today! ☺ I don't know why I didn't. I think 1996 was a lucky summer too.... I remember that winter was harsh. Minus 26 and the river froze... As well as the glass of water on my bedside table!! ❤️

  4. I DO have bunions!!! On both feet in fact!! The bunions themselves don't bother me that often but what they are doing to the rest of my feet (toe alignment, corn development and callousing) is becoming quite bothersome. In the last 5 years I've paid much more attention to the kinds of footwear I purchase. (Long overdue!!)
The dress you're wearing is identical to one I had in about 1973!! The halter cut of the top is a style I still love today. You look smashing in this look Sam!!
Keep wearing your sun screen! You CAN overdose on vitamin D but primarily in the supplement form...

  6. It totally agree about collaborating. I'm just starting out blogging but I actually turned down the first two companies who contacted me to collaborate because I wasn't in love with their products and I didn't feel comfortable promoting something that I didn't love. I was recently contacted by Welly Merck (a swiss watch company) though and jumped on it. The watch should arrive tomorrow. I'm so excited because I LOVE these watches. They are really classic and pretty so I'm more than happy to do a post about them.
