Social Media Burnout #fakeituntilyoumakeit LINK UP

I'm certainly NOT a lover of social media and I can't pretend otherwise.

{You could have a look at this post about my feeling s towards social and why I think Facebook the worst!}
You could also have a look at...

I've been even quieter on social recently... and that's saying something!
Even my favourite (read: least-ignored) media, Instagram, has been neglected.
I've only posted once in the last week and that is BAD if you want to engage and boost those all-important numbers.

Herein lies the problem...
I've not really wanted to engage and have had zero interest in boosting my numbers!
I know I shouldn't say it but it's true.

I've been overloaded with emails and demands.
I've been craving peace.
Phone notifications have been turned off.
I've not even looked at Facebook (which I don't like anyway) and don't feel too bad about it.

Having said that, If I have ignored a comment you have left or not thanked you for a share or a mention, I am sincerely sorry.
I don't want to be rude.
I certainly don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

I've just hit a wall.

{See this post from Thursday that explains a little!}
I don't know whether it's the time of the year or a (very) busy work and family life.

{Any parents out there will understand the summer events that pile up... and the constant dishing out of cash!}

I can't put my finger on it.

However, I want you to know that I still really appreciate your visit and value your opinions.

I've enjoyed looking at the links from last week and was secretly pleased to see slightly fewer than normal... also something I shouldn't be saying as a blogger trying to boost link numbers and engagement.
{I can hear the blogger police at my door!}
But I have to be honest with you... for this week, reading fewer posts felt much more relaxed and manageable.

I'm already feeling refreshed and raring to go!

This week the beautiful Marianna caught my eye... First, with her lovely smile that lights up the screen, and then with her simple post suggesting a few spring fashion shopping ideas.
Just what I needed after a week of 'bleugh'.

See her full post HERE.

So, please tell me...
What about you?

How are you feeling just now?
Are you in full creative flow?
Or, a bit off?

I'd also LOVE to hear your opinion on social media?
Fun or a necessary evil?

Have a lovely week!

  1. Sorry to hear you've hit a wall. We've all been there, and social media does make it worse. Glad you've turned off the phone notifications. Make some time to do things you love - for me, a relaxing bath with a face mask.

  3. I'm with you on this Samantha. I was dreading going on holiday to come back to a backlog but I'm taking it in my stride, and don't even start about the emails! xx

    1. The emails are the worst.... I wish I could filter out time-wasters and just enjoy comments or questions. Those are my favourites. XXX

  4. I hear ya. I'm just coming out of a sad slump myself...getting caught up on some things I'd fallen behind on and once I'm more caught up I think I'll feel better cuz the pressure to "do do do" will be off for a bit.

    Hope you feel better soon, too.

      It's time to pack up and move out though, isn't it?

  5. I totally relate to all of this, Samantha! Twitter is the one I really most ignore. Yet, I share everything to Twitter. If I visit a page, I tweet it. I suppose it is a kind gesture, but then I never actually visit my Twitter account. Like ever. So all of those “Thanks for the tweet” messages go completely ignored. I don’t even really understand Twitter, to be honest. Oh well. And I have posted only once on Instagram this past week, too. They don’t make it easy since I work mostly on a laptop. Then I have to get images to my phone in order to post on IG. So annoying. And I have been in a funk lately too as many of my recent posts have indicated. Just do what makes you happy! Your loyal followers will always be there.

  7. I'm feeling the same, Sam, but I think it's more because I'm low physically, mentally, emotionally as well. Hopefully things will start to look up soon though.

      We're all in the same boat together I fear... and it's a bit crowded.
      BUT we'll pull each other trough... get the oars out!!

  8. Hi Sam!
    I am kind of an "old-fashioned" girl.. im not a big fan of social media. I suppose I am more vested in ones that are more active for me ( Fb) but others I put energy toward daily and get little in return ( IG). I also dont feel the need to constantly comment, post, read posts.. etc. it does get to be too much sometimes. Somedays I would just like there to be blogs I can read at leisure and enjoy.
    Hope you are well.

  10. I totally understand that you turned out your phone notifications. I did it too, as they drove me crazy, even if my blog is not very 'popular' and my numbers are not significant. Anyway, I'm ok with this, as it's all I can manage!
    Social media are too time and energy consuming!. It's ok to quit them or to pick only a few (I'm a bad blogger too!)

  11. Truth be told, I went on Vacation and did not pre schedule any posts. Figured if I had time I would. I also did not engage on social. But that did stress me out slightly just because I truly enjoy engaging with others. I wish I could be that person not caring about numbers but every so often the " number" evil fairy starts chirping in my head. Good on you for being able to disconnect

    1. I'm no good as disconnecting, I don't want to ignore anyone or hurt anybody's feelings, but something had to be done. I was on the brink of "Delete account" :oP

  12. I'm so sick of Instagram. I barely visit anymore let alone post. The app drives me crazy--like actually insane. So, why go there if it doesn't make me feel good. I'm slowly, slowly just dropping out of the #instarace. And I good give a $h*#!!

    The one thing I am committed to however is blogging. I love writing and sharing on Kremb de la Kremb. I'm not necessarily growing, and that's ok. I can tell I do have about 100 people who check in, maybe more, I'm not sure, but that is fine with me. Would I like to grow? Of course! Do I grow through Instagram? Not really! Bye bye!!

    So, I am totally with you on this one Sam. With Facebook, I use it as a place to push content. That's about it. It helps visits just a bit, and it's easy to share. I should probably engage more....Hey, I'll share this post; it completely resonates with me.

    Keep bloggin'! That's where it's at #virtualgirlfriend!!

  13. I think we all get burnt out from too much social media exposure. Not to mention simply too much "fluff".

    I stopped going to FB or IG ages ago. I only post there automatically from my blog or from my Etsy listings.

    I wrote recently how much blogging has changed.

    I've been blogging for 12 years now and I feel it. I can no longer read blogs that are simply about clothing. I need something more. More of a connection.
