It feels really good to wear some seriously bold colour from time to time.
I am a colour lover and often mix and match different shades but, this outfit takes colour to the next level.
I love a mega-clash but clashing high contrast colours can be intimidating.
Sometimes the thought of replicating a look like this can be scary.
This is because bold clashes look much bolder in real life.
The thing about a super-duper clash is that it may look great in a photo but in the cold light of a winter's day colours like these stick out like a sore thumb!
I'm more than happy to be a sore thumb but, if you're not, then it's easy to make an outfit like this one more wearable.
Just switch out one of the bold coloured pieces for a more grounding neutral of your choice.
Mixing various blues and pink.
Or bright blue, pale blue and red.
Subtle as a brick and I'm not sorry! 😛
I'm lucky to have friends and family that are not afraid to say what they feel.
So when a friend said to me...
"This is an interesting look."
"Quite clashy, eh."
{That was clashy, not classy!}
"Nothing really goes does it?"
They were not being mean or bitchy, just stating a fact, and I took it as a compliment.
For me, bold is beautiful!
Are you wary of a (super-mega-uber) bold clash?
Or, do you love to mix as much as me?
What are your favourite mixes?
Please let me know!

Love the long-coat-short-trousers look. Perfect proportions. Being Queen of Taupe, the colours have me running for cover but I'd steal the scarf, given half a chance! x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sarah... the queen of Taupe running for cover! I love that. XXX
DeleteI adore this look and would wear it in a heartbeat, may swap out the handbag for a rich brown. In my world, these are neutrals-ha!
ReplyDeleteI would have gone for a dark brown too Kim, with dark brown shoes/boots, but these sock boots were calling my name!! :oP

I like to say that my scarf pulls all the colors together very often...and I think you've done that here, Samantha!

Scarves are great aren't they? Like having a stylist :oP

P.S This is actually two scarves Jodie... a pink and a blue.
Hahaha...@sarahloisreloved "Queen of Taupe". Love that! I, too, am a neutral person (black, white, gray) but I absolutely LOVE that scarf and would wear it any time! However, I love seeing what Sam comes up with and I love reading her thoughts on color and being bold! I do NOT like being the center of attention (kind of funny seeing as I am a professional violinist who has to perform!) so color makes me "run for cover" too!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of you and Sarah making a run for it as I chased you with pink trousers! :oP

I adore colour too, and I'm always inspired by your bold choices, Sam. You really mix colour so artfully and so beautifully. Your cobalt blue and hot pink look here is just fabulous! xx
ReplyDeleteAwww... thank you so much Lisa! XXX
DeleteI always love your bold outfits! While I'm more of a neutral gal myself, I can do clashy in small amounts - I have a strong pink scarf that I used to love to wear over a red sweater (the sweater is now gone and the pink scarf has been lonely). And I love pink with orange. Hmm, maybe I just like clashing PINK with things!

Maybe you need a new clashing buddy for your scarf Bettye?? :o)
DeleteI never wear a lot of bright colors. But I like the way you sstyled these colors together. It all suits so very well!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Nancy! XXX
DeleteThis is a fabulous outfit, Sam! I love the richness of the bright blues and pinks. You wear bright colours so well, Sam! XXX
ReplyDeleteThank you Sasha. You're always so kind! XXX
DeleteThere she goes!! Boldly finding exciting new ways to express the joy of color and clothing!!
ReplyDeleteClearly, one woman's "clash" is another's fashion exploration and self-expression. It's interesting that we're more accepting of a colorful paisley print, scarf but are so reluctant to combine those same hues in the garments within an outfit. I've often looked at my scarves for inspiration and they're certainly a good way to convincingly seal the deal on a particular combo eh?
What's better than a lovely Spring bouquet????
Thank you so much Judy... This is actually two scarves, tied in different ways so they appear to go together. Making colours go together by cheating a little!! :oP
DeleteSamantha, I WISH I could be as bold in colour-pairing as you are! I think I do mix a lot of colours (and prints) together but not quite to your bold extent.
ReplyDeleteI personally love the mixing of blues and pinks, and I actually think you've "tied in" everything together very nicely and expertly - nothing seems out of place to me here!

This comment made me smile Liyana!
DeleteBecause I think you are MUCH bolder than me... isn't that funny?!
The colours of this outfit would look amazing on you, as would all of the pieces... just sayin' :oP

You rock those colours well, I think if they weren't meant to be together, then the scarf wouldn't look right and it does. This will lift everyone's spirit for sure. Jacqui Mummabstylish
ReplyDeleteI think this outfit works because actually despite all being vibrant colours they don’t clash at all. They are all a similar intensity with blue undertones which are pulled together by the blue coat. Perfectly done.
ReplyDeletewhat a fabulous outfit!, I do love bold colors and I think that you rock in them!, you created something elegant and modern, all around this cool scarf!, I love your coat and all the glorious blue shades, the gloves, the boots, the leopard tights (those little details make me happy!)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
besos
As I told you in Instagram, this blue and this pink combine perfectly. It wouldn't be the same in pastel colours.
ReplyDeleteI love the coat.
I love, no, ADORE this outfit so very much, Sam!!!! There is clashing, and there is complementing. Clearly we know which side you and your outfit are on xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you Sheela.... I like a bit of both! XXX
DeleteThe colours are just gorgeous. I love them, but need to bold enough to then not question myself later when simesom comments! X
ReplyDeleteSomeone after my own heart! You're pulling it off because you obviously understand colors and how things work together.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! That means a lot. XXX
