It's OK to Cheat (sometimes) #fakeituntilyoumakeit LINK UP

Autumn Style, over 40 | Culottes & Layers | Fake Fabulous

Cheating.
We all do it from time to time don't we?

I'm not talking about the BIG stuff here, where people get hurt, damage done or laws broken...I'm talking about the little things.
The silly things.
The things that don't really matter.
Whether it's out of laziness, or just mischievousness, sometimes we just can't help ourselves can we?
Well, it's impossible to be perfectly behaved all of the time! 😇 ...😈

Today I'm a big cheat and loving it!
But don't worry, nothing serious...
It's just this outfit was supposed to be created entirely from my Autumn Capsule Wardrobe pieces BUT I couldn't resist doing a little swapsie.

Oh dear.
Naughty!
Can you spot it?

My 'cheat' pieces are this green bag ... oh, and the checked scarf (oops).
I know it should have been easy just to grab a bag from the capsule BUT this bag was calling my name.
"Pick ME Sam!"
I couldn't resist.

However, I'm not ALL bad... These culottes are part of my Autumn Capsule Wardrobe and I'm so glad I chose them.
They are very comfortable, versatile and plenty of fun to wear!

An eye catching pattern (👀) in black and white goes with just about everything.
They also have that satisfying swish factor.

Autumn Style, over 40 | Heeled Tan Brogues | Fake Fabulous

Pulling other pieces together from the capsule was easy and effortless.
Especially these heeled brogues.
I love them.

{My husband calls them my "Nanny McPhee" shoes... cheeky!}

  2. A good swish factor always adds to the pleasure one feels from a favorite wardrobe item. The outfit is marvelous even down to the shoes. Thanks for sharing your experience with your capsule and for the link up.

Maybe too many eyes are not such a good thing?

  9. Darling outfit, head to toe. I don't consider ANY form of accessories as cheating with regard to a capsule wardrobe. Your clothing and shoes are in the capsule. You complied. Sky's the limit when it comes to scarves, bags, belts, jewelry, etc. That olive bag is divine. I just bought a forest green bag for Fall and now wonder if I must have olive green too. (Sigh - I do.) The scarf is a perfect touch with those fabulous swishy culottes.

Obviously a capsule rookie mistake on my part.... I MUCH prefer the idea or limitless shoes and bags.
Oh.... and clothes too!! (Oops!) :oP

  13. And that's why I've never done a capsule wardrobe....I don't like to be limited. Glad you added the bag and scarf. They are the perfect additions to the outfit.

  14. I did think you were rather ambitious/mad to be putting yourself up for a capsule wardrobe - you're a fashionista after all! Love the crazy culottes though, they're fab. Thanks for the link up x

  15. I've always read that the best diets are those that don't force you to deny the foods you love...maybe the same could be said of our fashion choices? I love that you're trying the capsule idea! I think it would definitely make my creativity work harder (and for me, maybe smarter?). I love your culottes and of course, the great necklace! Even with a capsule wardrobe, you still stand out! Thank you for the link up!

  16. Lavvv this outfit! That camel jumper and oh my God I WANT THOSE PANTS SAMANTHA.

Also, Nanny McPhee shoes? Aside from me totally wanting those shoes for myself, I happen to think Nanny McPhee is AWESOME so I don't mind agreeing with your husband on that one! Although, perhaps he meant the shoes are "men-repellers" but style lovers like us are known to love "men-repelling" items anyway right?

I first learned about capsule wardrobe-ing from this blog called UnFancy, but the blogger is such a minimalist - totally unlike you, Samantha! (I can see Anna and others commenting about it above, hahaha!) I must say I was interested to see how you get on with it.

I absolutely commend you for giving the idea a try, and even though you've strayed I still think you're doing great job - MUCH better than if I ever were to give it a go myself! I mean, aside from the "cheat" items, you already have a stellar outfit on, Samantha.

Can't wait to see what you come up with next with your capsule!
