This month Anna, Ann, Mary (our guest) and I are covering up on the beach.
Beach cover-ups are great for slipping over your bikini to grab a bite to eat at the BBQ, or a cocktail at the bar.
However, beach cover-ups in Scotland can be a totally different kettle of fish.
Scottish beach cover-ups tend to involve a fleece... or a waterproof!
So, in this post I'm showing you my "Real life on Elie beach" cover-up (above) alongside a beautiful (and a more traditional) kaftan sent to me by somerville scarves.
{I wasn't paid to write about any items featured in this post. I only talk about things I really like.)
As for this paper panama hat?
Well, I just love it!
I've hardly had it off my head since it arrived.
I'm sure it will be on the blog many times... if I don't wear it out first!
Of course this "Beach Outfit" hasn't seen a real beach yet.
My real-life beach outfit was certainly not as chic, effortless or elegant.
It involved lugging windbreaks, packed lunches, flasks of tea, soggy towels, and buckets and spades .... all while wrestling with an excited dog, and chasing hats down the windy beach!
Maybe a serene beach break will be my next holiday?
Hmmmm.....

This is such a serene and simple look from Mary.
So beautiful.
I want to step through the photo and join her!

Anna from Anna's Island Style
Anna's strong swimmer's body is doing it's best to trick us into thinking she might be telling a porky pie about her 59 years!
This is how to rock a bikini and white ruffled minidress.... ageless and beautiful.

I totally related to your real life look, Samantha, since being cold and me just don't get along. I was away last weekend with only summer clothes but it got so cold I had to run into a local Icebreaker store (they sell merino wool everything) and buy a jacket and undershirt to put on over my clothes :)
ReplyDeleteYour kaftan is dreamy. Such a beautiful color on you! And that hat is adorable!
Enjoy your weekend!
xoxMary
Thank you Mary!
DeleteI must admit that I would have frozen to death...or lost a toe (or two) if I had worn the kaftan on the beach in Elie (in a windy 16 degrees at times).
Brrrr.
My children, on the other hand, were in swimming costumes in the sea!
Hardy little things :o)
Thank you for your kind words!!

ReplyDeleteAnd I also love your cotton cover-up, you look gorgeous wearing it and it looks like a comfy and delightful piece to be worn in a hot day!, I could imagine you sipping a drink under a sunshade on a tropical beach, looking that fabulous! I would like to be there too!
And that hat is really cute!
besos
I am typing this in a fleece dressing gown (over my clothes) as it is pretty cool today, so your talk of a tropical beach is a wonderful day dream!
DeleteAhhhh....how lovely.
(I'm off to put the kettle on for a warm cup of tea instead of that tropical cocktail though!! :oP)
Thank you for your lovely comment.

The blue cover-up with the little stars is really perfect on you and could serve as a cute tunic over jeans as well. I also like the way you look in the white Panama hat?? A classic summer hat for sure!!
ReplyDeleteI really love the shot of you and the girls romping on the beach with your dog!
Thank you Judy... I didn't know my husband was taking that shot!
DeleteWhich is often the best way, isn't it?
