Gothic Steampunk T-shirt and Mixing Textures, over 40!

Gothic Steampunk T-shirt, over 40! | Fake fabulous

This is such a fun outfit, and incredibly comfortable to wear.
(It's really just a slightly smarter version of joggers and a t-shirt!)

The pencil skirt is part of a co-ord, and is super comfortable.
The skirt can look quite smart, but easily adapts to fit into a more casual look.
Even with its silver lurex thread!

{See this co-ord in its full glory HERE....and find out where it came from.}

This t-shirt used to belong to my son, but he has outgrown it.
I decided to save it from the charity bag and keep it for myself!
The t-shirt is good quality cotton, and has an eye-catching gothic/steampunk design.

Plus....
It glows in the dark.

YES!!

This may not be the most sophisticated or grown-up item of clothing.
It's not lady-like or elegant.
It is certainly NOT "Age Appropriate".

It's unexpected, fun and makes me smile from ear to ear.
And, at the end of the day, that's got to be a good thing!

I wanted to wear these olive tights and my buckle sandals.
These sandals are very comfortable, and offer me just enough height to smarten things up a bit.

A cute cap (which was a thoughtful gift from my friend Anna... see here blog HERE) and my magpie necklace finished things off nicely.

I'm thinking you can pull off just about any look and I LOVE the way you seem to challenge yourself with the unexpected piece. A glow in the dark t-shirt makes for a pretty special styling moment! You look so darn cute and if I saw you on the street I'd think, "I want to know that girl!"

  6. Jessica,
If you want concert or band tees go to Walmart or target. (men's or junior's dept) Many eras available too!

    1. I've often wondered what "target" is...I am assuming Walmart is the US version of our Asda?

  8. Ok, I recently found your blog and I'm loving your creative styling, but this outfit made me HAVE to comment! Who wouldn't love a graphic tee and especially a hand-me-down (clever girl), but with a skirt with silver in it?.... oh, so sweet! Then the pattern mixing with monochromatic colors - splendid! But the coup de grace is the subtle change of color with the tights capped off with the awesome shoes! Wow, you are a masterful artist! Love, love, love it!..... and BTW, your shoe/boot collection is fantastic! Got a little envy for some of your pairs here! I'm a fan, so keep the coolness coming! And may your 2017 bring you as much joy and inspiration, and more even, as your blog is bringing me!

    1. Thank you VERY much (I wish I knew your name!).
Your kind words really do mean the world to me...I am grinning from ear to ear :o)
I am touched by your comment and am so glad you took the time to leave it.

I do love shoes and sometimes wish for a big budget to spend on them (it would be SO easy...too easy!!).
Luckily I have a teeny tiny budget, and sniffing out a bargain is lots of fun.
Finding shoes on ebay (and in charity shops) is really satisfying.
These ones were about £30 if I remember.
New in the box and so well made.....definitely worth a look.
Anyway, before I go off on a shoe-rambling tangent I'd better say thank you again and please pop back soon!

  9. This is such a stunning outfit; I don't know many people who could pull this off, but on your model-level-gorgeous self, it TOTALLY works. I love it. The hat shape is perfection on you, and what is not to love about a glow in the dark graphic tee AND a magpie necklace?! Brava, lovely lady xx

  10. What a brilliant outfit Sam. I love the mish-mash, the unexpected as you say and how well you've orchestrated it so that it works in harmony. That tee shirt is awesome and I wish we could see the full glory of the glow in the dark spookiness of it! The shoes and tights combo is a fab finish - well done you clever girl!

  11. This outfit is such fun. I love the way the shades are muted but the little pieces of colour lift the grey. I have some olive tights that I really like but only ever manage to team with black - this has given me some inspiration on that front too! Kx
