3 ways to wear a fluted sleeve | PPP 11

Fake Fabulous | Fluted sleeves, green leather top, Flat Cap, Navy Trousers and Chunky Boots!

Welcome to the first Ping Pong Post of 2017.

This month we are styling Anna's crinkly top with fluted cuffs.

This unusual top was calling out for some layers, and my (faux) leather tank was just the ticket!

{I've also got a sneaky thermal base layer underneath}

Fake Fabulous | Fluted sleeves, green leather top, Flat Cap, Navy Trousers and Chunky Boots!

I love mixing blue and green together, so slim fitting trousers (in a french Navy) were the perfect partner.
Adding a green cap kept me cosy... I love this hat!

Chunky boots finished things off nicely.

Boots: Clarks
Trousers: I can’t remember.
Leatherette Top: DIY from a dress.
Top: Anna’s
Cap: Gents section at TKmax
Necklace: Oliver Bonas

Over to...

Anna from Anna's Island Style

Anna is on the cocktails again!
It's a tough job but someone has to do it :o)

She looks like she is ready for a casual party, or night out with the girls, in this easy going outfit.

I love the mixing of patterns and textures, as well as her inspired accessorising.

Those boots are the perfect partner to an awkward skirt length.. height and a bold pattern statement.
Love it!

{I wonder what she's drinking? It looks very inviting.....}

Top: Wallis
Skirt: Charity shop
Boots: Asos
Waistcoat: H&M
Bag: Giorgio Armani
Necklace: old
Belt: Charity shop
Rings: old

Ann from Kremb de la Kremb

Ann is a real party girl in this look!

There is no flesh flashing, but it is an undoubtedly sexy outfit.
The perfect outfit for a night out.... dancing, cocktails, more dancing...
Count me in!

She has used texture and subtle pattern to create lots of interest, whilst sticking to two colours.
Proving that simple colour combinations don't have to be dull.
I'm loving those metallic tights.
Another great look Ann!

Stay tuned to find out what happens next time...on the 20th of February.

It's my Birthday Month and also my turn to pick the item.
Anna tells me it's the most challenging yet!!
{insert evil laugh}

See you there!

How would you have styled this fluted top?
Casual or dressy?
Please share your ideas in the comments.
I love hearing them!

  1. Hi Samantha, Laury here (I commented before as anonymous on the graphic tee outfit). I probably wouldn't have styled this top at all because, though I cannot tell you exactly why, I don't care for a lot of prints and this one definitely would be a big 'no' for me. So, having said that, I must say that I love your outfit. There are several fantastic elements for me. LOVE these boots!... and they are perfect with the hat, like bookends to your outfit. Then there is the two tones of blue and olive - color deliciousness for the eyes! So that makes the hat and vest a perfect pair to play off the navy.... And that vest, or jerkin, or whatever you want to call it - I call it brilliant! I could not wear an all pleather dress, but I am going to keep my eye out for one to do this to!....LOOOOVE it! I think I have perhaps felt that bigger or busier prints overwhelm me, but this outfit has taught me that I can do some wild print as long as it is not a lot of the whole picture. This opens up a new world for me, so thanks for a new view of fashion made fun, practical, and beautiful!

    1. Thank you Laury!
(I'm so glad I know your name now)
A few years ago I used to avoid prints too.....I mean TOTALLY.
I could not get to grips with any of them and thought they were hideous.
Hahahaha...that seems strange now, although I still prefer a bold plain item to a patterned one.
Try adding a stripe to your repertoire... it's the easiest one to start with and could open up a world of opportunities.
      Have fun!

  2. I think this is one of my favorite series---of course, I'm probably biased since it's kind what the 3 of us do (although not usually the exact same item since we're not the same size)
It's so fun to see how differently the same piece can look with different items and with different accessories!
I love that you layered over this blouse with the leather top!! That's something I need to think about more often!!
And the color combo is very fresh & unique---my kind of look exactly, Samantha!

    1. Thank you Jodie! I could see you in this outfit.... :o)
I am sure your mum could run up a trio of plether tops/shells/Tees and you could do a series.

  3. This is a great look on you Samantha. Casual is your forte and you've never looked so comfortable as you do here. I love the addition of the extra layer and even though the colour would never have occurred to me, you made it work beautifully. Really quirky styling is what you excell at Sam, so keep doing it!
Thanks for keeping the ball rolling with our monthly challenge. Am not looking forward to next month though...
    Anna x

    1. Hahahahaha....I'm sorry Anna!!! I honestly thought it was going to be an easy one for you.
      Ooops :oP
Thank you for your kind words. XXX

  4. I love this series! You all came up with fabulous ways to style this top!

I love that you put it underneath a faux leather tank - it looks great! Great necklace, too!

    Andrea’s Wellness Notes

    1. Thank you Andrea.
To be honest it needed a layer to make it fit properly and this seemed perfect.

  5. Wow are amazingly talented at putting together unexpected combinations of color, texture, and style. You blow me away with these totally creative looks!!! I just love this outfit from head to toe and because I have a black leather tank I will definitely be trying a similar look.
In my book you easily took this round!

    1. A black leather tank sounds fab Judy!
And so versatile too....a world of outfit opportunities.
Let me know how you get on.

  6. Loving the mix of patterns and those booties are so cool Sam. I really like your leather olive vest and layrering it here. I would love to look good in hats, another cute one :-)
    thanks for linking

  7. such a fabulous combo, and such a lovely 'gamine' style!, you look so gorgeous!
Lovely hat and boots, I think they rock together and love how they match that olive shade on your top!. That's fabulousness!

    1. Thank you Monica, you are so supportive and kind. Gamine is such a nice word isn't it? XXX
