Sometimes, we can all get a little bloated (and puffy) can't we?
Sometimes, I blame hormones.
Sometimes, I blame stress.
Sometimes, I blame the weather.
Sometimes, I blame ageing.
Whatever is to blame, there is no point dwelling (and moaning) about it.
Life has to go on.
When my stomach is bloated and sore (and I feel generally yuck) I need to cover up in loose fitting, comfortable clothes.
Luckily, my legs never swell up, so they can come out to rescue me in times of need.On these 'bleugh' days, an oversized T-shirt dress is perfect.
Loose and comfortable, casual in style BUT definitely not boring or forgettable.
Comfort dressing can still be fun!
She knew I would love it!
{See that dress, here layered up again}
Just because I am wearing an oversized T-shirt doesn't mean I have to look like I couldn't be bothered getting dressed.
Okay, so the truth is I really couldn't be bothered getting dressed...
But, nobody needs to know that, right?
An unusual pattern and/or texture helps to elevate this dress out of the nightwear department.
Footwear is more tricky.
I need 100% comfort.
Some days, I can put up with a little discomfort for the sake of a nice shoe.
Today is not one of them!
I want to reach for a pair of birkenstocks, or my trainers, but settle for these flat sandals instead.
Silver sandals are a slightly funkier (and smarter) choice.
Making a nice change from my trusty gutties.
A statement necklace distracts the eye and adds to the feeling that...
"I did get dressed today, honestly!!"Teal sunglasses finished my look off nicely, and hid my eyebags.
And if all else fails, a slick of bright lippy and big smile will always make you look (and feel) better.
DRESS: A gift
DRESS (underneath): Baukjen...this one is similar
SHOES: American Apparel
NECKLACE: Topshop
LIP: MAC
GLASSES: Fenchurch...these are lovely

This is certainly the most comfy yet stylish way to hide puffiness. And with legs like yours, that is all anybody is gonna notice - lucky you! I also love how your hair is growing out. It looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen :oD. I am growing it a little but am off to the hairdressers in a couple of days. It is uncontrollable just now. Thank you for noticing!! XXX
DeleteGirl---never let it be said you don't kill the style fairy!
ReplyDeleteYou could be wearing that dress with slippers and sure, it'd look sloppy. But no, you pair it with a great pair of silver shoes (you know I love them, since I did a post series on them) and a fab necklace. I really think that necklace makes the outfit quite intentional!!

Thank you Jodie....I guessed you might approve of these shoes! They are super comfortable and very slipper-like. And a necklace is so easy to pop on, isn't it? Instantly a bit more dressed. XXX
DeleteMy goodness but you have some of the best necklaces!! I agree with Jodie about its impact on making the outfit along with the pretty shoes.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it really is the accessories that make a look come alive.

Thank you Judy...I got a new one in London too! I hope to share with you soon. Necklaces are such an easy way to look like you have made an effort....and take no effort at all! :oD XXX
DeleteWell you know that anything in tartan will get my vote of approval Samantha! I love this simple mini dress which showcases your long, long legs perfectly. And of course I covet these fab silver shoes and think they would fit in with my other silver shoes too. Great to see you in sunnies and bright red lippie too - it all goes to make yet another brilliant outfit x
