White Jeans and Green nails | Slogan T-shirts, over 40.

Fake Fabulous | Slogan T-shirt, White jeans, Tan peep-toe booties and green toes.

Slogan T-shirts can be a hit or a miss.
The ones that are trying to be ironic can look cute and fun, on a young woman, but can go horribly wrong as we get older.

We don't want to look bonkers, do we?
Striking a balance is hard.

I recently spotted a super-cool slogan Tee on the beautiful Liyana from Affordorable (see it here).
Unfortunately, my slogan t-shirts are few and far between and nowhere near as cool as that one.

{I am determined to try and find some new ones as they are lots of fun to wear!}

This slogan T-shirt is simple, and not at all ironic (or particularly interesting).
It is, however, incredibly soft and comfortable.
Easy to wear.

Today I paired it with a classic summer staple, white jeans.

{They may be classic summer, but I happily wear them in winter too...with some thermals!}

A simple belt, tan peep toes and a pink cardigan made for a very comfortable outfit.
BUT...
It was a little bit too boring for my liking!
I needed a subtle touch of something different.

Green toe nails were my solution.
Green is an unexpected colour, especially with an outfit like this, so they made a small (but significant) statement.
A little pop of colour and fun.

Sometimes all we need is a small detail to make us smile.
A couple of necklaces and some green sunglasses finished my look off nicely.

CARDIGAN: Boden
T-SHIRT: Scotch R'Belle (here is a subtle slogan)
JEANS: ME&EM...sold out (these are nice)
SHOES: c/o Heavenly soles (similar in suede, similar in leather)
NAILS: BarryM...these are fab!

  1. This looks fabulous Samantha!!
I didn't even have any graphic tees until just last year---I must have thought them too silly---but now I love them!
And that green nail polish---have some and love it! Why not have a bit of surprise on the tootsies!!

    1. You are right Jodie! Toes can add something to an outfit...unkempt, naked feet with cracked heels, dry toes with raggy cuticles and (yuck) hairs are the worst thing! I shudder. XXX

  2. I am a huge fan of slogan or graphic tees. In fact I sell my own in my Etsy store : ) Daily when I walk my dog I'm wearing some kind of tee.

My favourite toe polish is blue, purple or green. Pink and red are too predictable.

    bisous

      Purple toes!
      Yes.
Purple is a colour I have not worn for a while...thank you for the reminder. XXX

  3. I agree with you that without the color on the nails it would be a bit dull( if it was worn by a dull person.) But I like the colors and I loooove the shoes, I am going to check them out!

  7. Graphic tees are LOTS of fun and styled as you've done with a more conservative cardigan and pearls takes the edge off just enough. I also like styling them with a navy or black blazer.
Suzanne C. has some very cute t-shirts and I recently suggested to Melane K. That she consider putting some of her sketches on t-shirts as well.
    You look darling Samantha.

    1. Thank you Judy. I have to admit that I don't own a traditional blazer...well not a navy or black one. I really need to remedy that because it could open up a whole new set of contrasting looks. Yeah, this cardigan is borderline twee....I always feel a bit on the mumsy side when I put it on. Maybe the yellow trim saves it a little? It is still just a practical item. Those T-shirts sound interesting. I must go and check them out! XXX

  9. Really trying hard to contain my excitement because you mentioned me in your post. Really hard. I wanted to type a sentence that was all caps but I don't want to scare anybody.

Oh what the heck - OMG SAMANTHA THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING ME IN YOUR POST!!!!! (Oh, I forgot to warn you about the exclamation marks.)
I actually even feel honoured to be honest, that I may have inspired YOU of all people, even in this little way, because I constantly get inspired by you.

And, Samantha, seriously, this is true: I'm working on this idea about accesorising comparison, so after reading your previous post earlier today, I swear, I was thinking about mentioning you and that post in my post - not even kidding. I can't believe you beat me to it!

On to your outfit: I saw the legs + feet part of this outfit on your Instagram and I loveddd the deep tan peep toe booties (want those), especially when paired with white pants (which are the perfect length, by the way), but seeing the whole outfit makes me love everything more. You carry soft colours just as well as bright vibrant ones! The t-shirt is SO cute - I've always had a thing for soft pinks on grey backgrounds. Styling here is amazing, as always! XO

      Thank you.
Your beetlejuice t-shirt is the bee's knees. Super cool. I am not sure I could pull it off though...hmmm....maybe I will have a look on ebay, just in case??!!
BTW...you have also inspired me to try something else...which will be coming soon! :oP

    2. Of course you can pull off the Beetlejuice tee - perhaps even better than me, I don't have any doubt!

Can't wait to see more from you XO

  10. totally comfy&cool outfit, with a twist!, love that you added your own stylish touch, Green nails and Green sunnies!, lovely indeed!
I'm also looking for 'slogan t-shirts', but almost all of them look too baggy, too revealing or too strange on me!
    besos
