Casual outfits don't have to be drab, dull and boring.
You CAN inject colour (and individual style) into a casual look without compromising on comfort... or warmth!
Today I'm wearing a bold and bright orangey-red coat with a very casual puffa gilet and my trusty jeans.
Skinny jeans are definitely OVER (I wrote about their potential demise a couple of years ago ... see that post HERE) and I'm not unhappy about it any more.
Much like the 90s classic boot fit, I feel that they've had their day and I'm ready to move on to something new.
Today I'm going tapered and next week it will be the turn of the wide cropped jean.
Time moves on and clinging on to old jeans styles is a sure-fire way to look dowdy and frumpy.
I've added a pair of super-chunky trainers to this look and a fun pair of lilac lurex socks.
Adding this fabulous silk scarf in a fun print really made this outfit sing!
Are you over Skinny Jeans?
What new styles are you going to be trying this year?

Thank you Eva.
DeleteThe thought of bare ankles in winter makes me shudder. 🌨️😕.
I'm nearly always in socks... Mostly 2 pairs layered up!
Xxx
No way am I giving up my skinny jeggings. Comfortable to wear and they make me look quite slim! Old ones are reserved for dog walking, but my every day look ( I’m retired) is jeggings, boots or trainers and layered tops with scarf.
ReplyDeleteQuite right!
DeleteIf you find a style that suits you, and is comfy, then it's a winner.
No cropped or tapered jeans for you?! Xxx
I LOVE my skinny jeans!! I am only 5'2" and long waisted and they make me look taller. No way I am going to the cropped wide leg current fashion as I think it would make me look very odd indeed. I love the socks, and I know you love socks also, but they don't seem to shine in any of your outfits as your shoes/boots are always super cool. Thanks again for inspiring me!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sharon. I'm usually in a bold or lurex sock but as you say they seem to take a back seat... All of the space between my trainers and my jeans let these lilac lurex socks shine... Literally!
DeleteHahaha
It's so interesting that you love your skinnys for their ability to make you look taller.
I agree completely that they can lengthen a leg...eapecially with a heeled ankle boot!
Don't be afraid to try a taper or a crop though.
My eldest (27) is petite (just under 5 feet) and curvy. She rocks wide legged, cropped, tapered and midi lengths.
Worth a try on next time you're out shopping?

By the way, the only time I see the Notify Me button on a reply to your posts is to post one first, and then the next comment on the same post has the notify me button. Not sure why, but that is why I never see what you reply to my comments. Anyway, cheers
ReplyDeleteHow strange!
DeleteAs I'm typing this the box is to the right of the publish button.... Hmmmm.... I'm on my phone at the moment but I'll check on my laptop later.
Thank for letting me know.

I love your coat! What a amazing color red is!
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy.
DeleteIt's a perfect orangery red... So hard to find.
I love it.
Red is a wonderful colour isn't it?
Especially in winter.

Totally in love with your red coat and colorful scarf!, this kind of things put a smile on my face and cheer up any dull day!. Lovely comfy&cool outfit and love how you keep it modern!.
ReplyDeleteSkinny trousers have been my favourite ones for ages, as I consider them more flattering for my frame, but nowadays they don't look so appealing to me. I'm not going to embrace any 'mom jeans' trend, but I'm trying different styles!
besos
I think the 'Mom' jean can look a bit.... mumsey?!?! Is that the right way to describe it?
DeleteI love my pair but I feel they can head towards FRUMP if I'm not careful.
Mumsey is not a look anyone is going for is it?
(Despite being a mum x4! hahahaha)
I think it's great to try new shapes and styles and keep experimenting.
That's what keeps us feeling young!!

Love the scarf with that coat, I has me thinking which colorful scarf I can pair with my red coat.

I was never into skinny jeans - I always found them hideously uncomfortable, and unflattering too - and I've been wearing my retro, wide-leg favourites for a few years now. So, I'm relieved that the end of the skinny jean is nigh, and that the high street will finally have a few more options available!
