Transitioning a Summer Slip Dress | Autumn Layered Outfit
Here is a quick and easy way to transition almost any summer dress into those cooler months.
With the addition of some clever layers.
Today I'm wearing a simple slip dress with a long shirt dress over the top.
These midi-length shirt dresses can look a little matronly, especially if you have a decent sized bust.
However, if you open it up and wear it as a duster all matronly-ness disappears!
How easy is that?
{I've had issues with this slip dress in the past... read about them HERE but I'm not ready to give up on it just yet!}
I'm wearing this slip dress with a silk under-top today.
It's comfortable and cosy.
Popping a shirt dress over the top gives both lump-coverage and valuable warmth.
Canvas ankle boots add a tougher edge and a chunky necklace finishes things off nicely.
Such a simple way to get more wear from your wardrobe.
If you pop on a pair of chunky leather ankle boots and a fine knit top you're ready for those cooler autumn days.
Adding warmer boots (maybe even knee boots), tights, a full-length slip and a fine gauge polo neck would make it a great winter look.
No shopping required!
How are you transitioning your wardrobe into the cooler months?
I'd love to know your tricks!

Verrrrrrry clever slip dress layering going on here, Sam! I am going to try this myself. I often feel a bit bare in a sleeveless slip dress, but I like how you've solved this without a traditional jacket. Styling perfection, as ever. xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa... slip dresses are hard to wear anyway aren't they?
DeleteSuch a generous comment...thank you !!!

Love it! And your Hair!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha.... thank you Nancy!! XXX
DeleteThis is a great look, Samantha! I'm a fan of slip dresses, but yes, they do have their challenges!
ReplyDeleteThey're torture really Sheila... every lump and bump seems to be highlighted!

ReplyDeleteYou are quite ravishing in this layered loveliness!
Your hair is SO cute and seems to have transitioned as well. Has it become a fun change for you?
I love the clever repurposing of the long sleeved maxi dress and you've inspired me to try a similar look.
This is a favorite!
