Vintage Dotty Dress and a Summer Trilby

Trilby Hat | Vintage Summer Polka Dots | Summer Outfit | Fake Fabulous

Do you wear hats in summer?
I'm wearing one of my favourites today.
A compact summer trilby.

This particular one is a gent's hat.
I need to buy my hats from the men's department because ladies hats are always too small.
They perch on top of my head in a comedic style.

It can be annoying, especially when the gent's hats are mostly sombre and the ladies versions have much more colour!

Having said that, gent's hats are often better quality.

Why is that?
I'm not sure.
I think it's often true with gent's clothes too.
Maybe the men in our lives don't accept poor quality and therefore it doesn't sell?

I'd love to know your thoughts on that!

This trilby is a gent's XL... yep... an extra large.

My huge baw heid (Translation: Head like a large ball) takes a lot of covering!

I'm wearing my hat with a cute spotty dress that may (or may not) be vintage.
I'm not sure.

If you recognise it please let me know where it's from!

This outfit needs no other accessories because each of the elements has plenty going on!
  • A dress with details... spots, buttons and a bow.
  • An interesting hat with a side flourish.
  • Shoes with an edge... A mixture of textures and buckle details. Buckles are always a winner for me!
  • An interesting bag.
  • Job DONE.

HAT: Christys (very old)
DRESS: Charity shopped (maybe vintage, maybe not!)
SHOES: All Saints... old too.
BAG: eBay

  1. A very color neutral look for you but as cute as it can be! The dress is so cute and definitely has a vintage vibe.
I love hats! I think I'm wearing them more often these days. They do help keep that sun out of the eyes! Some of my favorites were purchased in the men's department simply because I like their neutral colors.. I enjoy combining/contrasting them with a more feminine look.

    1. It's weird isn't it Judy?
I seem to be wearing lots of neutrals recently... It must just be a phase :oP
I also agree with your contrasting: Masculine hat, feminine other bits and bobs!

    1. Thank you Nancy... now that you mention it it DOES have that vibe!
Maybe it's a 50's dress??? Unlikely because the quality isn't there but it would be lovely if it was!
I'm imagining it lined and made of a gorgeous fabric :o)

  3. What a great dress with such a lovely full skirt. Grey is an unusual colour for spots but looks fabulous. Love your look. Regards - Jill stylishatsixty

    1. I thought so too Jill!
We see plenty of black and white but it's often too harsh.
The grey is a little different.

I loved your dark lipstick looks in your previous post. MAC lippies are my fave.

    1. Thank you so much Sheila!
      You are kind.
Mac are great and I love the quality BUT my youngest is very eco motivated and against animal testing so no more Mac for me.
I'm using up my current favourites and on a mission to find alternatives.
Maybe something even better will come along?

  5. Well, this is darling! Literally, from your head to your toes!

That's a great idea about looking for hats in the men's department. I'm the same -> Big Headed :-)

And look how long your hair is getting! Are you going to keep growing it?
