When I first joined my local gym I told myself I wouldn't be buying any 'fancy' gym gear.
Not EVER.
My friend rolled her eyes but I was determined that I would just wear the one pair of joggers I own, or a plain pair of leggings (depending on the activity).
There would be no need to spend money on daft gym clothes.
I would hardly be wearing them anyway....right?
Hmmm...
Needless to say, my initial idea was blown out of the water.
I now have gym 'outfits' hung up and ready to go.
My poor joggers are lying in the bottom of a drawer and my good friend has that "I told you so!" expression all over her face!
Almost every shop has its own sportswear section.
From low end to high end, even down to the local supermarket!
The choice is fantastic.
Whatever your normal style, you'll be able to find the gym wear equivalent.
Clothes that appeal to your personal taste.
Gym clothes are also available in all sizes, so there is no real excuse not to find something that makes you feel great!
Loads of colour.
Plenty of patterns.
Luxury fabrics.
{I much prefer to wear a cashmere or wool jumper over my gym outfit than a traditional hoody}
You really can express your true self whichever way you choose to sweat!
TOP & BAG: Sweaty Betty (The bag comes in three colours)
LEGGINGS: Reebok (on sale now... yay!)
JUMPER: c/o Silver Pink (so soft and pretty)
TRAINERS: Adidas (A gift from my son, reduced now too!!)
Last week Susan turned my head with her story of style... an evolution.
I must say that the outfit on the left (from 1972) looks perfectly cool and wearable for today!
See her full post HERE it's a good read.
I think as you fall more and more in love with fashion, it's inevitable that gym wear gets included. I felt the same as you did Samantha - now I'm head to toe in union jacks or other graphic designs haha xx
ReplyDeleteIt's a slippery slope, isn't it?? 😁
DeleteYou look fabulous in your gym outfit. I think that looking nice at the gym is just as important as looking nice when going anywhere else.
ReplyDeleteI agree Paula! I think it's important to feet like yourself whatever you are up to. Xxx
DeleteSamantha, bright gym gear is the best way to get motivated! I was absolutely like you just a few short months ago. I was going to just wear my ratty old joggers and tees with the occasional black leggings thrown in every now and then. Then I got bit by the cute workout wear bug as well! And now I have a gym wardrobe that is bright and fun and cute and makes me smile when I am getting dressed to go do the thing I hate most....exercise! You look adorable in your gear!

I think it's important to get the routine sorted first before spending money on the gear Shelbee. . Just as you have done! Now you can feel like 'you' and sweat in style! 💪
DeleteThanks so much for the mention, Samantha. Love those bright leggings, by the way:)
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure Susan! ❤️
DeleteLove the bright colors and your fab sneakers! I enjoy wearing cute gym gear and find it motivates me to get up and go.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jennie. My son got them for my birthday, back in February ... He's a good lad! Xxx
DeleteYou look great! I'm ashamed to say I still opt for workout clothes that make me a little invisible - black, navy, grey. Don't need to be drawing attention to the REAL Sweaty Bettye as I'm huffing and puffing on the treadmill. But I can appreciate the fun looks on others...and if I were at a gym (which I'm considering for the winter) it would be entertaining to view all the outfits on display!

Commenting late, but just wanted to say.... absolutely! We need colourful gym gear.
DeleteI was the same as you when I started yoga, I decided to just wear a few tatty things I already wore to the gym. But then I discovered all the lovely purpose-made tops and leggings.
In fact, these days I live in yoga gear. I can do my practice then the morning's housework and then get on with my art. And also perfect for cycling.
My favourite colours to wear are black with purple or green. And there are some great companies which keep bringing out wonderful designs.
I love your leggings! Very 80s heavy metal too. 🙂
