White jeans in summer... hardly cutting edge, is it?
Add on a blazer and thoughts of blazing a trail in the fashion world are well and truly extinguished!
(I can feel myself dozing off as the flames fizzle out...)
BUT, outfit 'formulas' like this don't need to be dull and boring.
In fact, if you're sticking to a tried and tested key-piece combination then it can be easier to add your own personality.
The groundwork has been done for you!
Take this outfit.
White jeans, a plain tee and a Blazer.
Making an outfit like this work for you is all in the details.
Accessories are key.
Adding your own stamp to an 'outfit formula' is an easy way to look stylish.
- Cuffs. A rolled jean hem and blazer cuff are essential for me! A must for staving off the frump-factor.
- Colours. I like to pick colours that either clash or blend in order to make a plain outfit seem more 'me'. Today I'm mixing pink, lilac and burgundy with the white jeans.
- Shoes. Interesting shoes are always a good idea. Boring shoes = Boring outfit. Today I'm wearing a pair of white sling-back clogs. Comfortable and just different enough. These ones I picked up in a charity shop... they were brand new and were for sale at over £100 on the brand's website. Oh, how I love a bargain!
- Bag. This satchel was a gift from my hubby a few years ago now and is fun but still functional... plus, the perfect summer shade!
- Scarf. A simple slim silk scarf (try saying that quickly!) adds a flash of colour that pulls the other items together with ease. Scarves are also an easy way to get outfit colour combination inspiration.
- Earrings. Fun tassel earrings make all the difference to the feel of this outfit. A little bit of whimsy is always a good idea. One bold piece is much more stylish than a matching 'set'.
TEE: Marks and Spencer
BLAZER: Asos... try this one
JEANS: ME&EM
SHOES; Sweedish Hasbeens
BAG: Cambridge satchel company
SCARF: A gift from a friend... this one is beautiful!
EARRINGS: New Look... try these.
BELT: Boden... try this.
What summer outfit formulas are you making your own this season?

Great colours together!
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy! XXX
DeleteLove it! These are my colours;)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm not usually a pinks person and I've always feared lilac... but I'm warming to it :oP

I am guilty of saying simple slim silk scarf!! Couldn't help myself. You look so fun and love the whole look.xx
ReplyDeleteHahaha I could hardly manage it Mary! X
DeleteThose shoes are amazing! *grabs at screen* You are so right - the key to making a formula yours is in the details. I love the mix of pinks/burgundy/lilac in this - it really adds an awesome colour element.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sheila! I'm chuffed as nuts with these shoes.... And I'm warming up to these colours 😁
DeleteLiking the shoes! I like colour with white jeans or all white too xx
ReplyDeleteAll white gives me the fear Laurie! 😱.... I think I am quite clumsy and would slitter something down myself... Which is silly really because there is no more chance of it happening than with any other outfit. X
DeleteTHOSE CLOGGS!! OMG they're absolutely fabulous, Sam! And so lucky you found them in a charity shop!
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous – you really can't go wrong with white jeans and a blazer!

I couldn't believe it when I saw them Suzy! Brand new too!!! Do you have similar shops in Portugal?
DeleteI totally agree with Sheila: those shoes are amazing! and wearing interesting shoes makes a difference!. You look lovely in your white jeans and fabulous color combo, and totally rock your accessorizing!, earrings, lipstick, sunníes and a cool scarf working together, it's lovely!
ReplyDeletebesos
Thank you so much Monica.... I am so pleased when you comment on colour, because you are so proficient with it. Xxx
DeleteThose clogs were a great score! The joys of thrifting!

Why pay more than we have to? Thrifting is win win here... All money goes to charity (this time for a local hospice) and I get shoes I was drooling over online that were way too expensive. Brilliant all round!! ❤️
DeleteFirst off I think I'm seeing a bit of a haircolor change! I like this strawberry blonde color on you a lot Sam. Still red but with a kiss of summer highlights!
ReplyDeleteThe colors you chose for this outfit are really pretty. Funny but since I retired I rarely pair a blazer with white jeans but I definitely like the combination! I agree that scarves are a wonderful inspiration for color combinations. They also act as a way to convince doubters that a color combination IS working!
Yes Judy.... I'm experimenting with colour to make my greys less hard work. Thank you for noticing. I love your comment about convincing doubters.... I agree, it's that initial glance that pulls the colours together with conviction! Xxx
DeleteThe attire looks pretty, Samantha! xo
ReplyDeleteYou always have the best shoes! I love shoes but never want to draw attention to my feet and ankles as I have awful edema in the warm weather and everything is so puffy, squishing out the top of the shoe - yes, it looks as awful as it sounds :-( So I tend to stick with more "invisible" shoes...and live vicariously through people like you with wonderful shoes!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving my white jeans outfits this summer - EVERYTHING goes! And I'm even excited to wear them in the fall (YES, AFTER LABOR DAY) with grey and oatmeal and sweaters!
