I've been thinking about colour a lot recently.
Mostly because our garden is coming into bloom (early June is always beautiful here) and there are so many stunning colour combinations to enjoy.
Nature is the perfect stylist and I always feel inspired at this time of year!
Colour is a surprisingly important part of life, used for everything from setting a mood (building trust) to selling us certain products.
Colour can also have an enormous effect on your general well-being.

I've also been asking people what their favourite colours are, and wondering if they actually wear those colours?
If they don't wear them, how do they incorporate the colour into their lives... Furnishings? Accessories? Stationary!?
Are some colours just admired from afar?
Loving a particular colour is completely subjective and personal.
One person's 'happy' colour is another's nightmare shade!
Often loving a colour is not the same as loving to wear that colour.
Many people enjoy certain vibrant colours, sometimes even a proper clashing combination... but they only ever wear black.
So, today I'm curious to know if YOU wear your favourite colour?
Please let me know by leaving a comment or Contact Me HERE.
You could also leave a link to a colourful blog post, web page or Instagram image.
I'd love to find out what colour gets your vote!
Last week both Gail and Monica caught my eye in their colourful outfits!
So this week I'm featuring TWO fabulous bloggers.
Gail is dressing up (boring?) black with a burst of delicious RED!
What a cracking outfit.
See her Full Post HERE.
And Monica was just, well... her usual colourful self.
She has gone for RED too.

Now it's your Turn...
Oh yes - my fav is blue and coral too. I'd say 60% of my wardrobe are these colours! xx
ReplyDeleteMy wardrobe is filling up with soft blues too Maria, more and more I'm drawn to it.
DeleteCoral is stunning too... especially with bright green!! :o)

Black! But...... my interior is total white, my garden is pink and purple, etc. I used to wear only black, but now I wear a lot of colours. I think green, blue, and pink shades are the most favorite!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha... You suit black Nancy and you're lucky, most people don't!
DeleteI can't imagine an all-white interior with my hoard of filthy children, dog and mud-flat-walks loving husband :oP

Thrilled to be one of your featured bloggers! I like green and lilac, and do wear both colours but it's dictated by fashion as to what's available. I have quite a lot of red in the home, but don't wear it very much (the exception being last week's outfit!).
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure Gail!
DeleteI love that outfit :o)
My home has a lot of red too!!

I love coral, orange, red, blue. Have just made an orange skirt with a flounce and I love it
ReplyDeleteOh my... an orange skirt WITH flounce sounds like perfection Sarah.
DeleteI love the colours you listed too... sometimes all together in the same outfit :oP !!!

mwahaha, thanks for your lovely link and comment, this makes me feel really glamourous and cool!. You're fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAnd obviously, I'm a huge fan of every color I wear and actually believe in the power of wearing your favorite & happy color!. Orange has a vitaminic effect in my mood!
besos
My pleasure Monica (TBH I could pick your colourful outfits every week!!).
DeleteOrange is a brilliant colour for lifting the mood... and making people eat!
Apparently orange walls in a dining room make people enjoy the food more... who knew?!

How funny Sam, I talked a bit about my favorite color today on the blog...how it has changed over the years and how I'm drawn to it in clothing. I love all shades of pink and wear it often. I also love turquoise which I wear pretty frequently and we've also redone our outdoor patio in shades of turquoise.

Pink is definitely a colour I associate with you Debbie!
DeleteYou seem to suit it perfectly.
Pink looks great with turquoise too... I bet your patio looks beautiful!

Samantha, I love this post. I have always been fascinated by the psychology of color and how it effects our moods and what messages can be sent just through color. It is just so intriguing. And yes, I do wear my favorite color! Green has been my favorite color for as long as I can remember. And if I spot something green, I usually end up buying it. Any shade of green really from kelly green to emerald green to mint green to olive green...my closet is filled with it!
ReplyDeleteShelbee

I guessed green for you Shelbee!
DeleteHahahaha
It does suit you perfectly though and is calming, grounding and honest.
All things I associate with Shelbee :o)

Green is my favorite color, Kelly green to be exact, and I wear it often. I have recently been adding more yellow to my wardrobe because it is such a sunny, uplifting color.
ReplyDeleteKelly green is a fantastic colour Jennie!
DeleteSo cheerful.
I'm getting into yellow more too... although I think it make my hair look yellow..??
Which is not so good! hahahahaha

Hi Sam!
ReplyDeleteI love red, but green is probably my favorite. I wear lots of various shades of green in my wardrobe. I have added a few more red pieces over the years to my closet as well. I know one thing, I used to wear black and am not a fan of it on me anymore! too stark! I may wear it from time to time, but always a color near my face.
Green is the perfect partner for your red tresses Jess... although redheads in red look AMAZING too, so I can see how it's your favourite.
DeleteRed is my favourite too but it is so hard to choose!! :o)

I love wearing colour, although I also wear a lot of black because I think it suits me – like colour does really! My absolute favourite colour is green. It's just such a beautiful, natural earthy colour and I love pretty much every shade of it. The exterior of my house is green (a kind of olive shade) and my bedroom is green too! It sounds awful but I adore it!!! I also love pink and purple, and deep blue. You can't beat deep blue!

You do suit black Suzy! (Not many people do so you're lucky!)
DeleteAnd your bedroom sounds beautiful... the room at the back of our house has dark green walls and I LOVE it.
My husband was all panicky at first "It's going to be too dark!!"... but of course it works beautifully. Like an extension on the garden. So calming and comforting.... I'm sitting in it now typing this.

Pink, which looks good with every other color!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha YES Mireille!
DeletePink does go with EVERYTHING :o)

I think you know my answer to this question already, Samantha!! heehee ;)
ReplyDeleteLike you I'm pretty much never in a lot of black, and yes I wear orange a LOT. And pink. And yellow. And yet my home is reasonably neutral with splashes of colour... no clashing colours which is perhaps surprising!!
Thank you for the link up my lovely xo
I guessed all of this EXCEPT your home... I'm so surprised!
DeleteMine is the opposite... LOADS of colours which is funny because I admire neutral and all-white interiors and my husband would have everything white if he could! LOL

Teal and turquoise (the colours of the sea at the coast on a sunny day) are my perennial favourites; and yes, I do wear them regularly! More recent favourites are mustard yellow, which I love to wear, all shades of orange, and almost any shade of green (except a very cold, stark, emerald green).
ReplyDeleteI remember being 15, and desperately longing for a bright orange jumper that I'd seen in Miss Selfridge, but being too scared to buy it for fear of being laughed at. Now, 33 years later, I would wear it in a heartbeat, and not give two hoots what anyone else thought about it!
I very rarely wear black (I find it very draining on my skin tone), and so blue - especially navy - is my 'lazy' colour.
Oh Fran... don't you wish you could go back to your 15 year old self and say "buy it!!!...You'll never look better"?
DeleteMy 13 year old daughter (the middle one) is at that stage. she has to get approval from her peers for EVERYTHING from her outfit to her lunch choices and he friends are all the same... they're like sheep!
Being older (and wiser) and not giving a toss is certainly a good thing but I'd have my 15 year-old skin back in a heartbeat :oP
XXX
Oh, absolutely, I'd love to go back and encourage 15-year-old-me to not be afraid to be her own person, in so many ways, including sporting that bright orange jumper! It was hard enough 30 years ago, to negotiate the complex world of teenage social rules, but it seems even more difficult these days, with constant social media immersion. I wouldn't be a teenager again for anything - although I'd very happily have my size 8 figure back again!
DeleteTruthfully I think my favorite color changes a lot. I love so many of them that it's difficult to choose just one! I wear turquoise and blue often and they're my current faves!!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm the same Judy but RED is always in there somewhere :oP
DeleteXXX
I love this! I think visually, our favorite color doesn't always translate to a color that looks great one us. As a child, I loved orange. I still like it, but it's not necessarily my favorite. I think some shades of orange look okay on me...maybe coral. My favorite real color now is pink, and it looks okay on my. However, I am drawn to white, black and navy in clothes.
ReplyDeleteHi Samantha. Catching up with your blog on a lovely Sunday morning.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love colour, being an artist. Right now I'm looking at a big red, purple and gold painting I did. In fact, I enjoy wearing those colours too. I think my favourite colours to wear are those ones, plus green and black. I do enjoy black seeing as it's classic, and I often wear it with purple. The colours that I don't think are good for me are yellow, orange and blue (denim excepted). But I do love them in my work.
The big surprise for me this year is pink. I would never have dreamt of wearing it before, and yet I've just bought a pair of pink Adidas Gazelles. Which means I'll need something to go with it now! 😉
Off to find a colourful link.
