Pick One Positive Thought... #fakeituntilyoumakeit LINK UP

This week has been a whirlwind of different emotions and experiences and I'm sure your normal week involves something very similar...

For me, it was the serious worry about a family member's health.
An annoying eBay issue I had to deal with.
The feeling of gratitude that I've reached my 44th Birthday (that was on Friday).
A tedious (and unnecessary) work issue.
Oh, and what felt like 100 other thoughts floating about too.
My brain has been up, down and round the doors this week!

I'm sure your week has involved plenty of ups and downs too.
Some minor, maybe some not so minor.
No wonder we often feel frazzled.

It's good to pause, take stock and focus on one simple thing.

Focus on one positive thought to take into the week ahead.

Each Sunday night I like to take stock of my week and try and put any negativity behind me.
I feel like each week is a fresh start and thinking about something positive helps me to move forward with ease.

Last week my positive thought was to find the bright side of every problem and put things into perspective.
This week I'm going to do something kind every day, with no other motive than for my own enjoyment!

{Being kind is great for my our mental wellbeing as well as making other people happy}

I'd love for you to share a positive vibe you would like to take into your new week.
Whether it's something silly (and simple) like spending an extra 5 minutes doing nothing every day... or enjoying a brew in total silence.
Or, it might be something more serious... like starting that big project you've been putting off.

Whatever it is I'd love to hear all about it!

Last week the lovely Jodie wrote a post about her family connection and it reminded me of how lucky I am to have certain relationships in my life.
Love and support doesn't always have to come from family members.
Friends can be just a special.

  3. happy birthday, dear Sam! I'm used to take some time to be alone and make my stuff (crafts, writing or even putting on some cream), every day if posible. That makes me feel better, more focused on things that matter!.
But sometimes my hormones go bananas anyway, and then any little detail could become a Big Issue with lots of drama!. Then, I need an extra dosis of positive energy!

  4. This one is easy for me as I am out of town visiting my grand baby and children for the week! So I will spend the week cuddling and kissing my little grand baby and having all sorts of fun. Happy birthday to you, and I hope you have a better week!

  5. My last few weeks have felt quite frazzled, Samantha, so I totally get it! My good this week comes in the form of a very quiet house. The children are off from school for mid-winter recess and my mother-in-law has so graciously agreed to keep them for the entire week...300 miles away from me! So I have 5 gloriously quiet days at home alone with my husband. It's a little weird here on day 1, but I know that I need a few days off from the pressures of parenting and running children in a million different directions. I do hope you have a relaxing week as well! And also a very happy birthday to you! My 44th is coming in just a few months.

  6. Happy Birthday Sam! Hope you had a wonderful day. i like the idea of thinking of the week on Sunday and cleaning the slate. I often stay up at night as I have a hard time turning off my brain! My positive thought is that i am grateful for my family and furbears.

  7. After a day sorting a serious issue at my nan's care home - I would like to take with me the most amazing love and support my family give each other. An emotional day. But as you imply Sam, there are always good things to focus on xx

    1. I can empathise with your stresses (my MIL is in a care home with dementia and it is heartbreaking).
Your positivity is shining through though!
Focusing on the good things in life always helps every situation.
I hope things resolve or at least settle down for you soon.

  9. Happy Birthday, Sam! I hope you had a great one! Hmmmm, my big pick-me-up secret (aside from a quiet coffee) is just to shake myself out of my own orbit and focus on someone else--- so giving a stranger a compliment, checking in on a friend via email, or something like that always helps me to shift out of my negativity and focus on the positive. xx

    1. Right - a proper comment...

I'm so sorry I missed your birthday Samantha - happy belated birthday!! Hope you had a good day despite your troubled week. Sorry to hear you've had an unwell member of the family, it can be very stressful, can't it?

My positive thing for Sunday night going in to Monday morning was actually the difference in Riley compared to the Sunday night a week before... he's back to his normal self and weirdly even seems BETTER than before (he's normally a fussy eater but since pulling through he's gained a voracious appetite)! So we're just enjoying every moment with him while we can and giving him even more cuddles than he had before - he gets to act even more snooty and aloof despite loving the attention ;)

Thanks for a great post - simple but makes you think about the good stuff. They're always the best.

    2. Oh my heart has lifted reading about Riley's rally!!
      Good old boy.
It's funny how you describe him... exactly how I would describe my old Whippet Monty!
      They're just brilliant characters.
      Gentle and loving.
      Quiet, lazy and aloof.
      Brilliant dogs.
Give him a stroke from me!!

  12. Sometimes it really is difficult to muster energy and enthusiasm after a particularly rough week. I like your Sunday ritual a lot. I think making a positive attitude a priority as you begin each week has to pay off and reinforce continued effort.
Being kind is also a sure fire way to feel better. Kindness seems to generate a loop of additional kindness as people pay it forward and being a catalyst for more kind behavior feels great.
You make me feel happy every time I see your lovely kind face and colorful personna Samantha. Thanks!! I loved reading that you were grateful to reach another birthday. You're so wise for being only 44 years old!!

  14. Happy belated birthday Sam! I hope you had a great day. My positive for this week is (despite being absolutely knackered) I'm going to see my mum tomorrow. I don't get to see her often as it's a 2.5 hour drive each way so it'll be nice to spend a few days there :-)
