Burgundy, Cream & Orange | The Perfect Neutral

Burgundy Pinafore Jumpsuit, Orange Polo Neck & a Cosy Cardigan | Fake Fabulous

What colours are you loving to wear at the moment?
I just can't seem to get enough burgundy, despite the fact that it's neither "on trend" or a colour that is supposed to suit me.
{See my burgundy legs and blouse HERE and an old Burgundy look HERE, with lots of pinks and reds!}

Burgundy is almost impossible to find in the shops at the moment... it's all about yellow and green.
Not that I'm complaining about that!
Yellow and green are colours I also love to wear, and they look amazing together.
Nevertheless, I'm still all over burgundy just now so I'm grateful for the joys of online and second-hand shopping!

Today's outfit is neither on-trend, in-fashion or cutting-edge style.
In fact, on paper, it's nothing special.
A bib-fronted pinafore style jumpsuit, heeled brogues and a cardy... sounds quite frumpy really.

BUT...
I feel cool and fashionable.

That's the thing about personal style, isn't it?
You can suit yourself!
As long as you feel good nothing else really matters.

Burgundy looks so good with warm colours like orange and tan.
In fact, it's a fantastic neutral alternative to black and goes well with almost anything!
It's just a case of experimenting, having fun and finding what works for you.

  1. PLEASE tell me you saw #MrBurgundy on the Undateables... you would be his perfect date here!! (Do you like planes?!) Then again, you may have NO idea what I'm talking about 😂😂😂

Anyway I love burgundy too (maybe I'M his ideal date?!) - I had a bit of a burgundy-buying frenzy when it was THE colour to wear a couple of winters ago... Your wide leg jumpsuit is the bomb, Samantha! And you're right, tan goes so well with it - as does the orange. Time for me to dig out my burgundy Jaeger dress and swoosh my tangerine scarf around it before the weather warms up (I've got a few months then 😂)

Fab outfit, fab you! C x

    1. Hahahaha... I'm clueless as to who/what you are on about Catherine.
      Off to google it!
okay, I googled and I'm still a bit confused TBH.
There is a ladies hat on a man's head... that is all I know! LOL
I remember that burgundy rush Catherine (maybe this jumpsuit is from that time??)
Yes and YES to burgundy and tangerine swooshing!!!

    2. Hehe no it was an episode of the Undateables... one of the guys loved burgundy and dressed in it head to toe. He wanted to make sure the date was paired with liked burgundy (of course) - and planes. Those were his only two stipulations, lol!!

    1. Thank you so much Lisa!
I'd like to say I'm a master of planning and colour coordinating but (TBH) most things I wear are accidental. I just put things together and hope for the best. Sometimes they work, sometimes they just look confused.
Which when I read that back sounds bloody awful!
      Hahaha...

  3. I love your burgundy pinafore, it looks so 70's but fresh and modern too!, lovely shape and color!. And you rock your accessorizing, your scarf and gloves look fab!
And I think that you created a fabulous color combo, chic and elegant!
I'm a huge fan of picking my own neutral colors, so I totally love that you're into burgundy these days. Lovely style!

You put colour together beautifully, with more subtly and elegance. Which I love.

  5. I think you can wear "unsuitable" colors by always keeping a more suitable hue near the face. Your turtleneck and scarf seem to do that job here. I really love the little bib jumpsuit. It makes this a very unique look!

    1. Thank you Judy.
That's what I loved about it too!
The bib is kind of quirky and makes it feel somehow cooler to wear.

  6. You have all the best shoes! I love brogues...and once in my 30s I had the perfect pair for me...and I've never been able to quite them work since. Like now they're in all funky or metallic colors...and I want a sort of disappeary color...oh the woes of shoes.

    You do burgundy beautifully :-)
