Red is set to be a BIG trend this coming AW17... much like AW15, and pretty much every winter season!
Trends aside, over the years I've realised that you can't really go wrong with a pair of red boots for the autumn season.
Red always comes back in fashion.
Just like their leopard cousins, red boots go with EVERYTHING.
In fact, I'm struggling to find an outfit that can't be enhanced by red footwear!
Mixing spots and stripes is a well established pattern mix, that works beautifully.
Sticking to the same colour palette is a fail safe way to get a spot/stripe mix spot on.
{Pardon the Pun!}
This pattern mix is made more interesting by adding a touch of red.
A dash at the top, and a splash at the bottom.
Lipstick and footwear... probably my two favourite accessories!
I couldn't resist adding my magpie necklace as I felt things were getting a little too serious!
('Stuffy' is not a look I'm ever going for.)
A classic bag finished things off nicely.
Will you be wearing red this Autumn?
Do you like just a touch?
Or, full on from top to toe?
Please let me know by leaving me a comment.
I love to hear from you!

I love the touches of red in this outfit, Samantha! Your red boots are gorgeous and look great with red lipstick! I love wearing touches of red like red earrings, red necklaces and red nail polish. I love red shoes and bags too! Your magpie necklace is so cute! It's magpie swooping season here at the moment though, so not so cute in real life!! Haha XXX
ReplyDeleteI had to look up Magpie swooping Sasha!
DeleteIt looks like your magpies are different from ours and seem VERY defensive of their nests... and young.
A bit like us humans I suppose! :oP
Beautiful birds though.
(My husband is into ornithology and is very knowledgeable about British and European species but not so much elsewhere, so it was great fun to be able to tell him something "new" about a species of bird! :oD
Thank you! )

You're very welcome! ;) I love it when I can be the one who knows more about something than my husband! Haha! The magpies around my area can be quite aggressive and sometimes we can be under attack just going to get letters from the mail box!! XXX
DeleteI have to agree whole heartedly, Samantha!!
ReplyDeleteRed boots are the bomb!
XOXO

"The Bomb"... I love that Jodie!
DeleteMuch like the "Cat's Pyjamas" or the "Bee's knees" or (as my good friend would say) the "Mutt's Nuts!" (naughty!!!)
Hahahaha.

Sometimes there are things we should hold onto. 30 years ago I had a pair of beautiful red leather ankle boots, they were quite daring then. I haven't even got a photo of them. How sad.
ReplyDeleteLynn x
Oh No Lynn!!!
DeleteI bet they were quite a head turner back then.
Such a shame you didn't squirrel them away. :o(
You can always do a bit of vintage trawling for something similar... or even MORE daring and fabulous!

Red boots are indeed the perfect footwear for this A/W and I have my eye on a pair too. I love this classy outfit pepped up with a splash of red here and there. And that final flourish with the cute necklace is spot on (oops!) hahaha x
ReplyDeleteAnna x
Hehehehehe...I love a cheesy pun Anna!
DeleteAs for red boots, I'll look forward to seeing how you style yours (once you snap up the perfect pair).
Your pairings are always an inspiration.

Well, I love ANYTHING red! It so suits you. I went out the other day specifically to buy red boots, and I came home with green ones. #fail. Yours look like they'll go with a lot of things, and I LOVE how you've styled them here in your inimitable way <3
ReplyDeleteI adore your magpie necklace; that is so cool. I've seen it on your blog before, and I always admire it. xx
I think you probably need green boots as well Lisa.... in fact, maybe I do too????!!!!
Delete{Bad influence!}

The first pair of strictly "fashion boots" I ever bought were red suede. I had them for probably 20 years! I love yours and the outfits you'll create with them as your primary underpinning! I think red boots have a way of sort of "leading the look" don't you?
ReplyDeleteYou are a master of print mixing Samantha. I think that the cooler months provide more opportunities to try out various pattern pairings too! I look forward to seeing more cooler month looks from you red or otherwise!!
Thank you Judy.
DeleteYour suede boots sound lovely... nothing beats a bit of vintage!
I bet you were sad to see those bite the dust.
Are you on the hunt for a new red pair this year?
XXX
Actually, I replaced them with red leather, short, cowboy boots from a consignment store. I was lucky enough to find them relatively soon after I tossed the suede pair. I agree with you about red going with everything. In fact, my husband and I recently decided to put a dark red roof on our new home in the Black Hills of South Dakota! :-)
DeleteThose boots are simply gorgeous. I love red and black together. How you manage to make stripes and spots work like this I have no idea - but you do! Kx
ReplyDeleteHahahaha...thank you!
DeleteI was worrying about looking a little too stuffy and boring, I'm glad you disagree! :oD
XXX
Sam, it is perfect and those boots are magnificent! I currently am having a color crush on red and do need to find some amazing red boots. I have a few pairs in burgundies, but that just won't do. Red is the color for me right now! You look amazing in this fabulous outfit!

I agree Shelbee!! Burgundy just isn't doing it... oxblood lace-ups are not even on my radar this year (yet)!!! Hehehehehe. We are fickle fashion footwear lovers aren't we? :oP
