Lurex Co-ords and Black Knee Boots, over 40.

Lurex Co-ords, nude leather biker jacket & Black Knee boots | Fake Fabulous

Did you see this post about shopping for new boots?
Where I say that I think knee boots (especially black ones ) can look frumpy and boring?

Well...
I'm wearing a pair of them today!
Fickle?
Me?
Never :oP

{A girl can change her mind, can't she?}

To be honest, I don't really like these boots, and I struggle to find ways to wear them without feeling a little "mumsy".
Yes, I am a mum, but I'm not ready to throw in the towel when it comes to feeling sexy.

{I have worn my black knee boots on the blog before (here) but the boot part of that outfit depresses me a little.
They're just too boring!}

Over the knee boots?
Yes please!

Ankle boots?
Of course!

Knee boots...
Zzzzzz, sorry I just dozed off for a moment.

{Unless they look like the boots in this... I love that pair!}

The appearance of knee boots in this outfit is the result of a compromise.
A compromise between the need to dress up (to go out) and being warm and sensible.

It's cold here, and there is a frost on the ground.
High heels = Falling over.
So, high heels and bare flesh are not an option.

Wearing a heel always looks nice, but I don't want to be clinging on to my husband like a newborn fawn!

Also, I NEED to hide some thermal layers under these boots and co-ords (I'm wearing a roll neck top, thick socks and cosy tights..sshhh, don't tell!!)

This skirt and jumper co-ord was sent to me by the lovely Ann (from krembdelakremb).
She recently sent me this dress, which is another cracking item.
What a woman!

This outfit is my first experience of wearing co-ords (I know, where have I been!?) and I love it!

So easy.
Skirt.
Jumper.
Boots.
Throw on a bib necklace, grab a clutch bag and I'm done.

Why did I not try this simple trend before?

JACKET: Super dry (similar)
CO-ORDS: Forever 21(Similar skirt and top)
BOOTS: Duo (now called Ted and Muffy)...similar.
BAG and BIB: Primark (similar and similar)

Do you wear co-ords?
What styles do you love to wear?

Please share your thoughts in the comments.
I love hearing from you.

  1. I think the outfit looks really super! I've never worn co-ords (or even heard of it!) but I think I would try a skirt for sure. Also... your hair is such a lovely colour. Do you get it coloured at the hairdressers or do it yourself at home? What colour do you ask for? I really want to freshen up the look of my hair but not sure where to start. Thanks!

    1. Thank you Nat. You should give them a go... so easy to wear.
      As for my hair...
I sometimes get it coloured at the hairdresser but I often colour it myself.
The hairdresser is SO expensive and sometimes my money is needed elsewhere!
This is a light ash brown (6.5 John Frieda) and I used it to tone down the orange tones in my hair.
My hair was going a bit brassy so the ash toned down the redness into a brown with a ed undertone.
Experimenting with hair colour can be a hit or a miss but it's always fun... and it grows or fades out if you don't like it.
What colour are you at the moment?

  2. Thanks Samantha. I did find your post on colouring your hair after I'd posted my comment! My hair is light brown (which I find a bit boring for me). I love changing it often too and currently I'm not very satisfied with the cut (bob with a fringe, I have very fine hair). I would love to go short again but not feeling confident enough to do that at the moment especially as my hair grows very slowly so if I don't like it I'm stuck with it for a long time! But I am tempted to try something more reddy...

    1. Go for it Nat!
Red is a fun colour to play with.
Unfortunately it fades out quickly BUT that gives you more scope to experiment!
      Have fun.

    1. Thank you dear Ann for this gift!
It is certainly a far cry from my usual style and I love it!!!
      So simple.
      So easy.
      Effort without the effort.

  5. I've never actually heard the slang co-ord for what I assume is a coordinated set (top and bottom). Call it "spectacular" on you Samantha! ! I also love the bib necklace and the beaded bag is delicious!! (I treasure beading of any kind!).
For this co-ord the boring black boots work well. They finish the outfit and they don't distract from lurex sparkle and your lovely curves Samantha! Ann seemed to know you'd do this co-ord the justice it deserved.
How convenient to have such fashion savvy friends eh?
