Much as I love the vast array of interesting and stylish coats available at this time of year, many of my outfits end up being 'finished' with a waterproof jacket.
{Even an evening outfit can involve a change of footwear, and a waterproof cover-all in the colder months}
Yes, there are plenty of glorious autumn days in Scotland, but we also get more than our fair share of wet ones.
{Or a real 'mixed bag', like today... rain, sun, rain, sun, rain...}
This rain is often accompanied by wind.
Sometimes the wind is light and an umbrella is practical, but more often than not the wind is ferocious.
Many umbrellas are blown to bits, and find themselves in public bins shredded and mangled.
I love umbrellas but some days just call for a 'proper' waterproof... one that can withstand a soaking!
{This jacket came out on on a wet, but not very cold or windy, day.
And, this long coat during a storm that lasted for days.}
So, when the friendly people at Lighthouse contacted me, I was delighted to receive this waterproof coat from their new AW16/17 collection.
{To be honest, I was on the look out for a new one.}
I chose the Reva coat in a gorgeous plum colour.
Plum is not a colour I would normally pick for a waterproof jacket (I tend to stick to navy or green) but I am delighted with my choice.
Plum is a perfect shade for autumn, and will look great styled into winter.
I just know this coat is going to see a lot of mileage!
Lighthouse have paid attention to the details of this coat.
Contrasting trims, handy pockets, cosy linings...all of the things that really matter.
I was also pleased to find the coat true to size.
There is no annoying vanity sizing here, just a flattering fit.
I chose the UK 10, and couldn't be happier.
This outfit came together in a flash!
Tobacco coloured jeans (also styled here , here and here), chunky walking boots and a fluffy green jumper made a simple outfit that was perfect for a walk with Jake!
{He seems to have given up in this shot though!}
As the nights draw in, here in Scotland, late night (or early morning) dog walks become a dark and damp affair.
Any fellow dog lovers will know that sometimes you just need to get the job done and get back home.
How many of us have popped out to walk the dog with our joggy bottoms (or pyjamas) tucked into our wellies?
Throwing an oversized waterproof coat on over the top of a grotty hoody... or worse?
Hands up who is guilty?
{My shameful hand rises into the air}
Guilty as charged.
No one will see me, right?
Well....
We all know that dog walking can be quite a sociable event, if we want it to be. Especially if you live in an area with plenty of four legged friends and their owners.
If your walks involve a public park, or a popular route, then you never know who you might meet when taking the pooch out for his early walk!
A new friend?
Or even a shiny new beau!

Have you ever been caught out in public in your PJ's tucked into wellies?
Have you ever met anyone interesting while out walking?
Please share in the comments, or contact me.
I love hearing from you!
Love this outfit, Sam. The boots which were made for walkin'. The coat... especially with the yellow scarf. Many of us need to have a great waterproof coat for our "real" lives... not just for our dressing up lives.... and here in Canada we need a great, and super warm, down is possible, coat for the long winters.
ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE a down filled coat Susan! I know Canada knows how to make a down-filled jacket better than anyone else in the world. :oD ... super cosiness. X
DeleteSo that's the advantage of kitties, I guess---:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great color for a raincoat! Now that's the way to make a rainy day more colorful!!
And your pup is so well behaved---did he get treats afterwards for all his hard work?

Hahaha, very true Jodie.
DeleteThere is no need to sneak out in your PJ's to walk them.
No, he was not very well behaved at all!
He got bored very quickly and lay down to rest (I think he found this posing lark a bit tedious).
I would love a cat as well but unfortunately they make me sneeze :o(.

I love seeing your puppy : )

Thank you Suzanne. He could be the Tramp for your Lady Zoe! :oP
DeleteI love the way your hair and your jeans seem to march and are bookends of the great fuscia colored coat. This coat is a winner and the color is cheering on a cold,wet blustery day!
ReplyDeleteYou and Mr.Jake are a darling pair!

ReplyDeleteLove the colour of this new coat of yours Samantha - it's great to change our palette from time to time isn't it? The pop of colour from your fab chunky scarf is a great contrast too. We all seem to have been plunged into the wet and windy stuff now - autumn I think they call it? Hubby does the dog walking in our house, so I've not been caught out in the pj's and wellies act!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week x
Anna
