50+ Winter Coats to Suit all Budgets | AW 2016.

Let's go shopping for a new Winter coat!

Are you on the lookout for a new coat this winter?

I have taken some of the legwork (and fingerwork) out of the search for an on-trend winter coat.
Scouring the internet (and the high street) for a real mixture of styles to suit all budgets.

Hopefully you will find something you like (or at least some inspiration) to help you in the quest for your perfect winter coat.

My starting budget was under £50....

Under £50

For some reason (despite weakness of the pound and the inevitable rise in prices) finding a <£50 coat was much easier this year.
Last year was a struggle, but there seems to be much more choice in 2016.

However, despite the great choices, I would always recommend a look through the charity shops in your area.
If your budget is very tight, there are some amazing bargains to be found.
Also, online outlets and "past season" websites are brilliant.

Of course, with a "Brand New" low budget coat you must be prepared to compromise on the fit, finish and fabric.
{I always wear plenty of cosy layers under a cheap coat... in fact I always wear plenty of layers under any coat!}

BUT, cheap and cheerful can look chic.

£50 to £100

Just a wee bit more in the budget opened up a whole new world of fabrications and finishes.
I am spoilt for choice here.
Plenty of colour and some great designs.
A great mixture of classics and fun!

{The boden coat is cheaper than the price stated here, and there is always an extra discount to be found... see this post on Blogging (or dressing) on a budget}

£100-£200

Now, things start to get more interesting.
You can buy a beautiful coat, that will last many winters, with a relatively modest budget.
AND, with a little clever discount code hunting you could get them even cheaper!

£200-£500

Okay, for anyone living in the real world (especially any mums who need to buy coats and boots for the children before thinking of themselves) we are heading into 'investment coat' territory here.
When spending this much money you want something well made and reasonably practical...a "wear anywhere" type of coat.

Or (if you are like me) you might be looking for a fabulously different coat that will become a classic because of its individuality and quirkiness.

Either way, having a more generously sized budget is a wonderful thing!
Some of these styles come in several different colourways too.
Quality, design, finish and fit.

500+

I know that this budget might be the realms of fantasy for some, but I kept the prices out of the thousands and as close to the £500 mark as I could (with a couple of exceptions at £900 and just over £1000).

Beautifully made classics, with a couple of quirky twists.

    1. Thank you Annessa. The fur coats are lots of fun. I found more in Topshop and Newlook recently and I need to resist! XXX

  2. I love the way you've collected and shown such a wide range of styles and price points. I have to admit to having a bit of a penchant for coats and jackets and have collected a bunch over several years. Perhaps it's because here in Minnesota there is a long coat wearing season. I also have some special memories of coats from my childhood and shopping for them with my parents!
There are some TRADITIONS that just must be maintained!!! =)

      Thank you Nancy.
She had no help from me at all. Such a creative wee person.
As for faux fur....I love it too!!
The (slightly ridiculous and totally impractical for a wet Scottish winter) super shaggy fur one is my favourite.

  7. wouauu!, this is the post I was looking forward these days, as I'm looking for a Winter coat and you always rock it!, I've visited (online) many of these shops, and I'm loving many coats at John Lewis, as their coats are in my price range and they look quite nice. I would love more bold bright colors, but I know that I'm not in the majority-taste!
    thanks for sharing your mojo!
    besos
