Welcome back to the fab 40's.
I am delighted to be part of this group of international bloggers, called The fab 40's.
The purpose of this diverse group is to show how eight (very different) women interpret a specific style.
Each month there is a new theme chosen by one of the group.
These ladies prove that being in your forties does not mean you have to be dowdy, frumpy, boring or forgettable.
All of these women are 40+ and fabulous!
Bang on trend, ageless and so versatile.
Today's outfit came together with ease (once I had "borrowed" this jacket from my daughter) and was as simple, and pared back, as I will ever get!
Blue jeans and a white tee.
What could be easier?
I kept my accessories to a minimum.
Adding a simple belt, neutral shoes and a large bag.
Black nail polish finished things off nicely.
{I had accidently left my reading glasses on as we started shooting but liked the look so much I left them. Geek chic!}
Do you love the look of a bomber jacket but need some more outfit inspiration?
Look no further!
I have 7 fabulous ladies here, to show you how it can be done... with style.
I love this entire look but especially those shoes....FAB!
Being petite is perfect for showcasing short hemlines and cropped tops.
Grace does both in this outfit with ease.
So funky and cool.
Check out her blog (link in the title) for more petite outfit inspiration.
Sheela never fails to bring a fierce attitude to her outfit.
Just look at those shoes!
This look is simple but very effective.
You must check out her blog if you are a heels lover...but prepare for serious shoe envy!

Jennie is taking the bomber to work.
Literally.
She shows us how a colourful jacket can add some edge to a simple work shift dress and courts.
So much more fun than a boring blazer.
{Notice the studded court shoes? Jennie always adds an edge, no matter how subtle}

Sam! I can't believe it's your daughter's jacket!! It's so cute! It even looks almost a little big on you. You surprised me with a classic look this time around--with the glasses too. You could be the red headed pixie cut Wonder Woman. Take those off, spin around, and presto! Wonder Woman!
ReplyDeleteSo, here's my question for you....do you think you'll get your own? Or just keep borrowing your cutie pie daughter's?
Love, Ann from Kremb de la Kremb
Hahaha...not really Annie, it is quite long in the arms though, which is good for me. I don't think I need to get my own as I have this one to borrow when the notion takes me! :oP XXX
DeleteI adore your bomber jacket. Or rather should I say, your daughter's bomber jacket : ) How fun when you can switch out clothing with her!
ReplyDeleteI bought my second bomber jacket this year after lusting after them since Drive with Ryan Gosling came out about 4 years ago. I'm still looking for a place that'll embroider a pug on the back ; )
bisous
Suzanne
That sounds fab Suzanne! A satin bomber with a gorgeous back embroidery.... sounds like a beautiful piece. I hope you manage to find someone to do it for you. Will you use your own artwork? XXX
DeleteLove the print of this jacket---so your daughter has great style too!!

She certainly thinks so Jodie! Hahahaha... it's all attitude at the moment :oP XXX
DeleteHow fun that you got to borrow your daughter's bomber jacket! I really like your look! So, did you give the jacket back right away???
ReplyDeleteAnd this is such a fun series! I love seeing everyone's looks!

Hahahaha....erm... no! I had to road test it properly :oP
DeleteThank you Andrea.

How cool to be able to borrow from her closet :) does she do the same with your clothes, Sam? And I can certainly see that your daughter has the same keen eye for colour and print!!! Incidentally, those glasses look incredible on you. Sexy librarian much xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteHahaha...yes Sheela, she tries! She loves my shoes but is now slightly larger than me so they pinch....Also most of them are too grown-up for her. I don't like her looking too much like a mini adult. I think I am a little bit old fashioned when it comes to heels and makeup :oP

Sam, this was such a fun theme and you styled it perfectly. I love the casual chic look, that bag caught my eye too. Thanks for the kind words, don't think "Fierce" has been used to describe me until now! :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha....you look fierce and fabulous to me Veronica!
DeleteI love this look. XXX
As I have already mentioned, I Love this jacket! Your daughter has fabulous taste (of, course!). I truly enjoyed how you elevated your classic basics with this one piece. Perfect way to show how a completer piece can switch up the entire look.
ReplyDeleteI see you are also growing out your pixie. :) Loose waves and curls have been a tremendous help to me over the past few months and they look really cute on you.
You're the pixie cut girl! I love how you're growing it out! Love all of these jackets-@LauriePOP2
ReplyDeleteSamantha in love with this gorgeous jacket and the way you styled it and girl your looking fabulous in those glasses :)
ReplyDeleteLove your bomber jacket - it is the one trend that I am looking at but not really sure whether to adopt but it certainly looks awesome on you.

You look absolutely darling in this floral bomber jacket aND jeans. What a fun look to share with your daughter. Clearly the "bomber" is an ageless trend and what's not to like about that!! I also like the small print. So many I've seen a larger prints so your daughter found a uniquely stylish one!
ReplyDeleteYour hair is growing out beautifully and it looks like you have some great natural waves showing up(?)
It was fun to see the variety of jackets in this trend on all the lovely ladies in the group. They also convinced me that these jackets are more versatile than I'd thought!

It's always good to catch up with you guys in this monthly feature. Bomber jackets are such a brilliant trend aren't they? My friend and I have both bought into this one, and I'm just holding back posting mine until everything comes together and the weather cools down here. I love the simplicity of your styling which is perfect to allow the jacket to steal the scene. I have to say that I agree with Marilee on your gorgeous new hairstyle. The waves really suit you. All of the other ladies gave you a good run for your money with this one Samantha but the white tee and jeans was perfect. Diane did look awesome in that cropped satin number too - such a great colour. Thanks for a fabulous feature x

First, I love your daughter's jacket!, such a pretty print! and you look cool&comfy!. I also love every outfit that fab girls are wearing!, all of them look effortlessly chic and so genuine!
ReplyDeleteBut bomber jackets are not my cup of tea, I think the lenght makes me look even more short waisted, and the sleeves are not flattering on me!. So sorry about this, because I like the look!
besos
Hi, first time around here! I love your blog. It is very inspirational for me and my job! And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your bomber jacket. Could you tell me the brand? I have gone through the blog entrance and the comments and could not see the brand... Thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteHi and thank you for your comment! The jacket was from Tkmax and my daughter cut out the brand label because it was too scratchy. I am sorry I can't help more :o(
DeleteThere are loads of different bombers out there, so I hope you find something else that you like. XXX
Hi Samantha and Olayanavarro,
DeleteI was able to find a bomber similar to the one Sam is wearing in this post at Forever 21 online. I actually followed the suggestions made by Ann of KrembdelaKremb who was included in this posting with Samantha. You need to refer to Anne's blog at the very end and look at the "similar" section.
